Good evening to Juan Linz. Presidentialism was a grave mistake. Impeachment is literally the only mechanism we have. Failing to even try to use it is total failure. A constitutional order like this, in the face of such unprecedented corruption & constitutional crimes, is not really worth saving.

Democrats are starting to clarify that Republicans are unpatriotic. They are also helping people realize Republicans are bad Christians, failed husbands and fathers, losers, weaklings, cowards. This is an embarrassing brand that degrades anyone associated with it. These ads only prove it further.

Excellent quote. This article also pairs well with Backlash Presidents, which takes on the historical and institutional dimensions of this problem but shares the same basic conviction.

"The current level of political animosity is exactly what one would expect to see if an extremist faction attempted to rescind the hard-earned rights of the vast majority of the country’s citizens." There are not enough exclamation points to convey how I felt reading this paragraph
Screenshot of article which reads: From this perspective, the “both sides” frame falls apart. The prob-
lem is not that the parties are divided. The problem is the existential
threat that a reempowered ethnonationalist strain poses to pluralistic
U.S. democracy writ large. The current level of political animosity is
exactly what one would expect to see if an extremist faction attempted
to rescind the hard-earned rights of the vast majority of the country’s
citizens. The only way to re-oppress most of a country is to use anti-
democratic and authoritarian tactics. And the only way to oppose those
tactics is to push back as a population and clearly reject them. This is
the argument happening in the United States, and its pathology is not
anger—it is the movement to undermine a generation of rights.

There is not a “middle ground” on right and wrong. There is not a “middle ground” on basic human decency. I am perfectly fine contributing to polarization if it means standing up for others.

Republicans don't actually want Milwaukee to succeed. They want to deprive it of resources, deprive it of funding, and then point their fingers and blame the city for the challenges they've chiefly caused. They don't want a thriving city. They want a political punching bag.

There's a pretty direct line between "When you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything" and this kind of MNF banter. The rot is everywhere in our society but it's a lot worse in some places than others. (screenshot from sports.yahoo.com/articles/al-...)
Then, Michaels cited the familiar football phrase that "winning is the best deodorant," before Herbstreit predicted that Browns fans would eventually embrace Watson after previously booing him in the preseason.

"You want the fans to get behind you, and that goes for pretty much any market," Herbstreit said. "This is an extreme case because of what you laid out with Deshaun Watson, but if you convert on third downs, you hit passes, you lead this team to victories, those boos turn into cheers."

It's disgusting the way people look past someone refusing to stand up for trans people or women or people of color or immigrants or victims of genocide. It is an ethical and moral line and once you stand on the wrong side you have revealed yourself to either be a coward or undeserving of power.

This is true. In 2016, I got into an argument with a gay man on a menswear forum. I've since made it my mission to make every man dress gay, thereby destroying his ability to tell who is actually gay and, ultimately, his chances of finding love. I built my social media following to achieve that goal
Someone on Twitter writes to me: "People should follow your advise if they want to look gay."

Last night my family was biking on Milwaukee’s only circle street, which is a one-way. A driver turned the wrong way. My husband & I told him it was a one way. As I passed him, I repeated it. He looked at me, said, “I heard you,” and kept driving. Deeply anti social behavior.

Something a student org I was in considered but didn't have the bandwidth to do was a community fair where we connected people to nonprofits that could help. I think channeling campaign resources into something like this would be a good idea and more useful than the campaign trying to do mutual aid.

A decade ago, Facebook was so worried about rising misinformation that it paid various news outlets to hire writers specifically tasked with publishing Snopes-like fact-checks. Today, the company is leaping into bed with a purveyor of misinformation to toy with a tool known for getting facts wrong.
The top part of a Newsmax press release dated 28 July 2026 headlined "Newsmax and Meta Enter AI Content Partnership." The screenshotted text of the press release reads:

BOCA RATON, FL / ACCESS Newswire / July 28, 2026 / Newsmax Inc. (NYSE:NMAX) ("Newsmax" or the "Company") announced today that the Company has entered into an AI content partnership with Meta Platforms ("Meta").

Under the agreement, Meta will have access to Newsmax's digital news content. Meta will be able to draw upon Newsmax's significant current reporting as well as archived content across its platforms to support AI queries across Meta's apps and devices.

"Newsmax applauds the significant resources Meta is putting into AI to keep America at the forefront of this emerging technology," commented Chris Ruddy, CEO of Newsmax. "We are pleased to work with Meta to help ensure users have access to timely, high-quality journalism through AI technologies."

Nobody disputes that having access to a car in a car-dominated society is good. It gives one access to jobs, healthcare, food, education, social opportunities and more. All we're asking is for people to go one step deeper and ask why access to such basic rights requires buying and operating a car.
