Not all men. Jesus Christ, don't you think women *know* that? Use your heads instead of getting defensive. Most of you would be terrified of swimming among sharks, even though sharks are stastically far less dangerous to you than men are to women.

about a decade ago i remember a bizarrely specific targeted hatred of the beatles going around amongst the youths. THE BEATLES FFS. it's always bizarre, always feels like weird posturing. how about everyone just gets to enjoy what they like? that sounds reasonable to me

my grandfather used to tell us they were "practicing" but never exactly explained what they were practicing for. synchronized dance routine? the olympics? murder? we could only wonder and made wild assumptions

i am experiencing a hell of a regret for not just getting the brand new fridge. i could've enjoyed my week instead of whatever tf i've been suffering through. ever regret *not* spending over a grand?

vindication? in the worst way? it's apparently quiet now because the compressor isn't kicking on *sickening laughter*

update: we did not need a new fridge, the old one just needed a new thermostat, now replaced for a lot less $. WHEW. but it's unsettling how quiet the fridge is now. i keep thinking there's something wrong with it. IT IS FINE, i've been assured. how bad had been been if QUIET makes me think BROKEN

ATTENTION BLUESKY! Annie says they are really hoping to boost the number of artists (crew, performers, creative teams, anyone) outside New York who are filling this out to get a broader sampling. If you are in the arts please take a second and fill this out!

they have learned like five different names for them, unfortunately! they are Too Smart when it comes to understanding us trying to be sneaky about them (they also know about 12 types of cheese, i have no idea how they are so smart about food while also being connoisseurs of plastic bags lol)

i accidentally said the word "churu" out loud explaining the assortment packet i got of them this afternoon, and now the cats are filing a formal complaint that i am not providing them a churu on the spot

really relieved to notice that unlike when i was casually appliance browsing last year, i saw ZERO "smart fridges" with phone apps or internet connections or the like. i am relieved that trend seems to have died quick. i don't need my fridge to do anything other than be cold inside.

not the anniversary gift i was planning on buying, but SURPRISE we had to get a new fridge this afternoon. so i'm declaring Large Kitchen Appliances are now the official 29th anniversary gift. or maybe it's just the old fridge's funeral gift. either way, rip old fridge and my bank account

one time i couldn't find the rubber mallet, so i took off my sock, folded it over the thing i needed hammered in, and gave it a few good whacks with a wrench. to this day, it might be the single thing i've done that has most impressed my kid. it also cracks me up every time i remember doing it.

Hi everyone, Today we said goodbye to Melody, a member of our family for eight years. We are hurting and missing her terribly. I’ve attached a bunch of photos. I would love it if you could share these pics of her in her prime. She came to us from a storm drain and has been loved ever since.

25 years ago today, we were hosting an exchange student. he went to school, and we were home on our day off having coffee and reading the paper. until our exchange student's girlfriend called from sweden, worried about him. so that's how we found out (they're married with two adorable kids now lol)

it's weirdly gratifying. their ignorance is concrete proof their garbage ai is entirely useless to authors and publishers. after this colossal display of baffling incompetence, no author, agent, editor, publisher, etc. should ever touch the glorp extrusion tech. don't get within shouting distance.

every post i've seen about all the problems with the anthropic settlement makes it even more clear to me just how little the ai tech folk understand about writing and publishing in general. like, astounding ignorance of a process they think their tech can be useful to and constantly push it as such.

the fun never ends when you have cats. i got to rescue a tiny mouse and deliver it to freedom outside. i figure it's chances are better in nature than cornered at the bottom of the stairs by two mighty (?) hunters

i've been absolutely bombarded by email from my dead brother-in-law in the last few weeks. it's super upsetting getting messages that sound like him, asking if i remember the good times in the attached pics (which i know is a scam link and don't click) from beyond the grave. fuck off, ai scammers

and realized just how much friggin HOTTER it is only four years later, and feeling super demoralized about finishing this project now. i was debating frogging it all and making something else with the really nice rainbow bamboo yarn, vs documenting our descent into climate hell. it's not fun.

i was knitting a temperature scarf (daily color stripes based on temp) back in 2022. i recorded daily temps for the whole year, but never finished knitting. i do a day or two every few months before forgetting it again. only now i'm doing THIS WEEK from 4 years ago...

guess where i've lived for the last ~32 years (and before that the southern tip of florida/new england). i guess i've fully assimilated to dc tho :'D
Map of the US titled Your dialect map. Redder areas are more like you, bluer areas least. It says I talk most like someone from washington, dc, about 57% of my answers match a typical resident. it's also red through new england and south florida while most of the rest of the map is blue

this is why my nephew labeled the fire starter "more fire" and the extinguisher "less fire"
a blue torch canister with a black valve labeled "MORE FIRE" and a red extinguisher canister with a silver handle labeled "LESS FIRE" on a white brick hearth. none of this confusing "fire hose" nonsense, these puppies do exactly what they say.
