Once I played the og JP version, I was surprised that the sound bug during the song's intro wasn't there. So I investigated. Years ago, a random romhacker made the English translation. This is what caused the sound bug. EVERY English version on console has it. No one ever credits the romhacker.

It's the only Monster Hunter I've played that I wouldn't want to boot up and play again right now, and I can't point to any single thing (aside from thinking Focus Mode is fundamentally destructive to the combat) but a lot of it comes down to "turns out the clunk was load-bearing"
