Given that the UCP openly questions whether city councils still serve a purpose, it's worth asking why some councillors seem willing to play along. #Lethbridge

I'm not the only one who's said this in the last decade, but I agree & will repeat it here: political cartoonists remain the last vestige, and, ultimately, the heart & soul of honest-to-goodness, old-school journalism where it's still available in Canada.

Having a referendum on having a referendum is: 1) ridiculous; 2) not going to satisfy the feral separatists; 3) not going to address the treaty situation; 4) going to waste a bunch of money; 5) going to lead to horrible conversations; 6) going to attract foreign interference; and 6) ridiculous.

This raises a question closer to home in #Lethbridge: 1) Is MLA Nathan Neudorf a separatist? 2) Does he likewise support a referendum question? I wrote his office this morning asking these questions. Let you know what I hear. #yql

Mom almost made me cry at the Charge game tonight. Arena was real rowdy before puck drop. She was looking around and seemed a bit somber. I asked what was wrong. She smiled and said: "This feels a long way from getting dressed in a janitors closet to play goalie for boys who called me names." 🥹💜

Even if he is opposed to the concerns re: EMS, even if he honestly thinks the concerns are overblown.... he has the cool ability to ACTUALLY HAVE HIS OPINION HEARD because he is on council. Whereas his constituents are worried about their families, community & careers & have nothing but their voice

This text outlines arguments against adopting permanent Daylight Saving Time (DST) in Alberta, focusing on geographic location and health impacts. Geographic Mismatch: Alberta is located significantly west of the ideal longitude (\(105^{\circ }\text{W}\)) for the Mountain Standard Time (UTC-7) time zone. Solar Noon Delay: On standard time, solar noon in Calgary already occurs around 12:50 PM, similar to a typical DST solar noon, making MST function like DST. Health and Safety: Permanent DST would delay sunrises, with Grande Prairie seeing sunrise as late as 10:19 AM in December, depriving residents of necessary morning light and disrupting circadian rhythms. Benefits of Earlier Light: Aligning time closer to solar time promotes better sleep, lower risks of chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes, and improved academic performance in children.

Sean Penn's characters really bookend this phenomenon perfectly.
On the left, a picture of young Sean Penn as Jeff Spicoli (long hair stoner kid in a Colt 46 tee) in the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High labeled as "How you remember your friend from high school".

On the right a picture of a current Sean Penn as Stephen Lockjaw (intense fascist in police fatigues) from the movie One Battle After Another labeled "When you find them on Facebook".
