Parts of Ludwig’s Odyssey score straight up sound like he’s blowing into a slightly-out of tune melodica. Wouldn’t be as distracting if they weren’t the crux of some of the film’s most emotionally-charged scenes.

This is precisely what I’m referring to. I have my own library, I should be able to play music from that personal library through Apple Music, like iTunes before it, but they keep doing this crap that makes it difficult, if not impossible.

Honestly, couldn’t tell you. I’ve barely interacted with the app at all and it just does this deletion BS on its own for me. Worse, the charging port on my phone is dead so I can’t connect my phone to my PC to redownload songs, and I can’t sync with my iPad’s music w/o paying the monthly fee.

I make frequent-enough driving trips through areas without signal or data service, which renders any kind of music streamer useless. If I happened to forget to “download” particular songs or albums beforehand, then I’m SOL, even if it’s songs/albums that I literally have hard copies of on my PC.

I already use Tidal, but that’s not really the point. We’ve become so accustomed to our reliance on music streaming that Apple seems to have quietly removed one of the most basic functions the iPod/Phone was built on - the ability to play the music library you own.

Many generations of younger players will play Pokopia perhaps without ever picking up on the hints and still have a great time. For those of use who grew up playing Red/Blue, it eventually starts to feel like a love letter specifically to us without feeling cheap or manipulative. An incredible feat.

Pokopia understands, better than many pieces of legacy media of late, how to utilize nostalgia properly. It gets that nostalgia is not true substance itself, but rather a flavoring that enhances an otherwise solid foundation, and Pokopia definitely nails its core gameplay loop…

It’s almost impressive how little the aesthetic of Harry Potter has evolved in the 25 years since the first movie. The costuming, the art direction, the design of (most) of the characters look and feel exactly the same as 2001. This only adds more fuel to the “…why?”-ness of the HBO series remake.
