It strikes me as an idea that emerges from a suspicion that nothing just 'happens'; in reality, create a bad enough president and an armed enough country in a big enough population and you'll eventually just create a guy who'll take a crack- but that doesn't strike some folks as 'realistic'

circa 2024 I was in a server with people who couldn't fathom why people were opposed to Harris. I said a few things, esp. Palestine, and was told I was enabling trans genocide for saying so. But I said those things because anyone who considers genocide expedient will treat anything as expedient.
