Oh that's super frustrating. We have a local brand that for some reason makes their packaging very for baking ingredients very similar. So mixing up the baking powder and baking soda is super easy. So I end up having to buy a different brand for each product to make extra sure i don't get it wrong.

I think they're also trying to prevent media sensation. Some of the killings might be linked, but others might have similar timing but different perpetrators. I wouldn't want someone to be getting away with literal murder after all.

Cape Town's water storage dipping into Drought Response territory. Zahid Badroodien has been going on about the City being unable to implement drought resonse due to other users not doing thier part. The city's own press release paints a different story.

A good manager makes a huge difference on the day-to-day stuff, 100%. But if you have a kak manager and you try to take it up with someone who can do something, I've found that it's the higher ups that set the tone for what is considered bad behavior.

On boarding and receiving a warm welcome are not the same process. If I have a particular problem with my current workplace, I know what steps I can take to either fix it myself or who the appropriate person to talk to is. Everywhere else it was a scramble and passing the buck.

Generally the boss sets the tone for workplace expectations. I've worked with people who were lively enough to show me the ropes in the workplace until I got settled in, but it was never "here's a document with our policies and procedures, the senior designer has put together a document to use" etc

So I'm wondering if South African workplaces are just incredibly complacent and generally don't bother with onboarding or if that's just been my experience. Because if it's the former, I imagine that corruption breeds in complacent workspaces. Which might explain the state of... a lot.

My current UK based employer had 3 mandatory weeks of onboarding training. They covered a lot of stuff I already knew but there was some other stuff that they also wanted me to train. So everyone who joins is on the same page when you get given work assignments and it was incredibly helpful.

I've never been through any kind of onboarding training for anywhere I've worked in SA. When I went to JET, we had 2 days of general onboarding and 2 days provisional onboarding. Most of it was cultural education and who to call in different emergency cases.

It was very close. Saw somewhere that it was confirmed that the planes were 12m from the roof. That's definitely pushing it. I would not feel comfortable with that becoming a regular thing. But I pay so little attention to rugby in general that I also have no point of reference for past flyovers.

Yeah like, I know passenger aircraft are not built for being nimble or agile. It's not like smaller military planes. But flyovers are so common for rugby games and they don't normally get much attention. So my question is have the previous ones been further away? I am not much of a sports watcher.
