I am interested in working with an artist on a graphic novel on soil and/ or global environmental change. The lab would have money to fund this. Do you know of any graphic artists that would be interested?

Lightly steamed broccoli, seasoned with a little lemon juice and salt? ohyes that's the millennial stuff I like to eat

I think it's because older people used to boil broccoli to the point it became mushy and smelled like fart, so kids in the 70s-80s reasonably hated broccoli, and this was captured in the TV shows those kids made when they grew up.

This morning's quick reminder: generative AI is a natural resource-guzzling plagiarism machine that exploits creatives to enrich tech bros. Do not use it to create art or writing. Do not conduct "fun" experiments with it to show us how awful it is. There is no ethical use for AI. Let it die.

I cannot wrap my head around the MLA's decision to reject the *vote* to divest, citing financial concerns. They're perfectly aware that the overwhelming majority of members will vote to divest. This leadership decided that the existence of the MLA takes priority over democracy and human rights.

After traveling for 21 hours to return from the #MLA25, I arrived home. Exhausted, physically and mentally. I hope I'll attend again in Toronto next year because boycott won't be necessary because our leadership will get it together and end their passive complicity with genocide.

Ohh! I didn't realize Mechademia wasn't open submission. Yeah, I think the big journals on Japan are likely to accept stuff like that nowadays. I met with someone from Monumenta Nipponica a few months ago and they said they're more open and actually excited to publish on popular culture.

www.mechademia.net/journal/seco... Mechademia would be the most immediate/obvious place for that, but I'd also suggest the Journal of Comics and Graphic Novels. They have good stuff on manga studies. www.tandfonline.com/journals/rco... Then there's Asian Studies Review if you want sth bigger ;)
