I guess I'm lucky because a robot would never choose to draw as poorly as me and I would never choose to be as boring as a corporate product. But there's a generation now born into the idea that all art must be studied under a microscope instead of experienced and...

I survived a lot of suicidal ideation and undiagnosed autism and other fun discriminatory hurdles to just get to the second-to-the-bottom rung where I am at today. I don't know how you fix this.

the tl;dr I guess is that I pity young artists having to deal with an anxiety I never was creative enough to conceive of. I didn't know how good I had it to just copy a layer, cut an eyeball that was a little out of place, nudge it, then paint over the gap and never rename or flatten the new layer.

sometimes from well meaning people that don't want the death of human creativity to happen on their watch (and thank you for diligence) and sometimes it's from bad actors that have never rotated a cube or studied color theory a day in their lives. it is not an environment one wants to rush into.

I hope what I'm trying to say make sense. I already find it difficult to be vulnerable and open when it comes to my process because brain-bad + it's barely stitched together escapism, and now artists, in addition to just having all references on the net poisoned, have to deal with AI accusations--

underpaid and overworked and victims of theft even BEFORE the advent of generative LLMs. And now, on top of everything else, artists have to have a litany of receipts ready for every single thing they have ever wildly scratched onto paper, they have to have their layers dusted for fingerprints

my entire relationship with art has been one long youtube queer-baiting "it gets better" pride month video and i have this feeling that this is the exact sort of desperation that current AI tech ghouls want to cultivate to drive their art thieving products. Artists, my whole life, have been--
