There are many reasons to reject these questions... But there’s a simpler reason to say “no.” The questions follow a familiar pattern of scapegoating that we should all reject. Canada has a history of discrimination; don't fall for it in Alberta calgaryherald.com/opinion/colu...

Alberta, what do you get out of the $91,000,000, yes, $91 million referendum? Nothing. This $91 million could have been spent on building 3 schools, or 4 senior homes, or emergency rooms, hiring doctors or nurses. Instead, you get nothing. www.facebook.com/share/v/1Ayh...

I'm the next few days, it would be a mistake to: ❌️ limit the resistance to the teachers' demands or saving public education ❌️ make labour/workers/unions the only faces of opposition The UCP's pre-emptive use of the notwithstanding clause is much broader than one strike or one set of rights.

Let's be clear about what happened today. Premier Smith introduced a bill to strip Albertans of Charter rights, denied MLAs the opportunity to debate it and the courts the ability to scrutinize it, and did all of this from her seat on a jet to Saudi Arabia.

Between the slow hand-counting of ballots and the introduction of parties, we are going to find out how much Danielle Smith’s hand has played into municipal elections. I hope she hasn’t tipped the scales towards conservative candidates but I fear the damage is already done.

After a little rough math, Imake approximately
$12/student per day. This government that has
nomoney can somehow afford $30/student per
dayto subsidize childcare?

mduse_

Here's an idea-the UCP could take that $30 per child,
per day and invest itinto public education. The strike
would be resolved. But this government would rather
doANYTHING rather than adequately fundpublic
education.

There are 35+ kids in my child's Biology 20 class. They
are sitting 3 kids at each table meant for 2. When
writing tests they use dividers between students to
reduce copying off of each other but there aren't
enough dividers. It's a small issue but if Danni can
afford $30/kid/day she could probably fork over a few
dollars for teachers & classroom supplies.

I support Alberta teachers!

Hey Danielle Smith, Nate Horner and Demetrios

Did you know that on October 1, Alberta will have the lowest minimum wage across Canada? Even the conservatives in Saskatchewan are raising their minimum wage. Danielle Smith and the UCP refuse to support workers. They won’t raise the minimum wage, but we will. Better is possible, Alberta.

Alberta: home of the highest auto insurance rates, fastest-growing rents, highest inflation, lowest minimum wage, lowest education funding. And home to a UCP government that’s just hiked their own salaries and budgets. Instead of helping you, the UCP helped themselves. Please don’t forget this.

As thousands of education workers prepare to go on strike, don’t let the UCP distract from how we got here. Over 4000 students in Edmonton Public Schools are unfunded by the UCP. Alberta has the lowest per-student funding in the country. The UCP will blame school boards. But this is on the UCP.
