I use the Seek app to identify flora and fauna. It’s excellent, and shows geographic areas where they’ve been found, etc etc. it’s free.

There’s so many downstream negative effects from this. I’m not sure the answer, but having America be a fabric made up of monopolies doesn’t seem like where we want to be. And I think we should tax car dealership owners 90%.

"How do I be an expert?": know how the business works, know what threatens it, think about what you can do to ameliorate those threats. It may not involve pairing braces. That's OK. "I can't do that where I am": then you may be at risk where you are. "I can't do that": that's a choice.

When I was consulting, ~20 years ago(?) (yikes) we hired an MIT grad. Man what a loon. I think he was smokin too much dope at the time. Anyway, he had enough gravitas to get himself hired at the client. Maybe he was smart, but not very effective.

They have their own models and want to provide the full stack, but at the moment, they are in the middle. Their incentive is to deploy. I think they have other constraints that have prevented this.

It’s extremely hard to build data centers in this environment. Getting the gpus is one thing, but getting through regulatory hurdles, getting power and getting all the other parts in place to build one means you have some things before another. Also, MSFT only makes money as a middle man.

2001 was a really weird year. July 9th, I moved cross country with my then wife for her to attend law school at IU. It took a month for me to get a job. I had started a GMAT course, 9/11 happened and there were images on tv of people laid off from their jobs. It was depressing.
