The challenge to sleep one night outside each month got me to drag my lazy butt to Liesjärvi national park few days ago. And experience impact of recent storm and arrival of winter 😊. This rounded up my hiking year 2025, being fortunate to sleep 43 nights outside in total. Hope 2026 is quite alike.

Solo backpacking tent pitched in popular camping spot. Location Savilahti in Liesjärvi national park, Southern Finland.

Lots of large spruce trees fallen over hiking trail after a storm a day prior. Liesjärvi NP.

Forestry woods transforming slowly into natural woods. Largish pine trees with smaller spruce undergrowth. Liesjärvi NP.

Monochromatic tones Liesjärvi lakeside. Water starting to freeze over with sprinkle of snow on ice, rocks and old trees.

Since 2021 the gap has increased from 59% to 73% for cars produced today. Given the grid will get cleaner in years to come, the gap keeps widening not least the initial manufacturing baggage will become smaller. Hence policies that discourage buying new ICE cars are highly beneficial.
