I feel like being a wide receiver on that team would be almost as dispiriting as being on the other team.

I’m gonna guess that there winds up being a big delta where hobby projects and other things that (rightly, or wrongly in the case of some of these apps) have relatively high risk tolerance get more “productive” and things that do not… do not.

This is the vice president's guy, no? This should be every headline, it should lead every newscast and EVERY REPUBLICAN SHOULD BE ASKED ABOUT IT.

You understand that bringing in the actual lead partway through is a bad way to run a time-sensitive high stakes project, right?

There’s no indication that the delay was helpful to the process, and it compressed the timeline which made the sort of delaying tactics that Trump successfully used considerably easier.

The Bari Weiss-ification of CBS News continues. Dennis Hastert was convicted of the sexual abuse of high school students under his supervision as a high school wrestling coach. Banking rules violations were his transfers of hush money payments which he misdescribed and which allowed

Again, <only Republicans> ever get to talk like this. If a single municipal level Democrat ever did, it would be a national outrage &spark a wave of “civility” discourse, & op-eds about how Dems must Respect Real Folkz & talk across difference. Democracy is incompatible with this double standard.

“Would taking significant casualties militarily intervening in Yemen destabilize the Pakistani government” is a question I have never asked before and don’t know the answer to. But an interesting thought to encounter!

lol years and years of attempts to rehabilitate george w bush as an old guard pre-trump republican and he goes, "no, this obeisantly anti-constitutional republican senate majority should remain in control for the duration of the trump presidency"
George W. Bush and Cornyn Leave Out Paxton as They Raise Cash for Senate Candidates
The former president and Texas senator are headlining a fund-raiser in Dallas for top Republican Senate candidates. Not included: Ken Paxton, the nominee in their own state.

My basket above is more of an “cost of entry into archetypical U.S. middle class life” index than consumer prices generally.

Midwestern @midwestern.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Absolutely. Every metric is a set of choices - this basket is no more a real absolute truth than the CPI basket is.

Midwestern @midwestern.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
This is far beside the point because the guy did specifically ask about bread, but I feel like a basket of “car/college/healthcare/house”would actually get at what he’s after better… super quick and dirty i get real median wages down 25-33% vs 1996 using that metric. (Vs +20%-ish via CPI)

It remains true that if the Russians went home tomorrow, the drone strikes would stop, no Ukrainian would follow them over the border and the war would be over. They can just *go home* and be at peace. The war persists because Putin wants it to.

Serious question, it not still inflation regardless of the why? I don’t follow why one reason for price increase wouldn’t count.

I think the saudis said part of their pipeline capacity will be back online earlier than anticipated, and since obviously there is no potential for future disruption, Mr. Market is excited about it the way he used to get for Trump’s proclamations about the end of the war.

Will Republicans be asked to disavow their Republican colleague's extreme statements and the death threats from an attendee at the Republican convention? Hard to say, as there's no direct connection between them like Democratic candidates have with that Twitch streamer
