This was my first proper girlfriend's favourite single way back in (argh) 1983 when he was still just called Tin Tin, no Stephen or Duffy in sight. She never stopped playing it!

You know when someone who haven't seen for a while is mentioned and you assume they've died? Pauline was an NHS radiographer. Man, she's cool.

I believe the ties were 'kipper'. The Zombies. Embracing 1967's look. There's a Zombie loving event in St Albans next month. Begin Here, it's called. To mark it, a different record. This Will Be Our Year. A gem. Ending this week's MB Record Show. buff.ly/J1w5Znd

Another offering to mark the birthday of Steven Severin. He produced most of the Happy Birthday LP. Including this, a single from 1981. It didn't get them on Top Of The Pops. That would be a Martin Rushent affair. But A Day's Wait is on the MBRS , to show what they could have won. buff.ly/J1w5Znd

Eddie Floyd. I suspect the photographer suggested the 'casual' pose. Nice guy Eddie didn't want to disoblige. The brilliant Big Bird is now on the MB Record Show, following the common sense view that it should be played as often as possible. buff.ly/J1w5Znd

A new release from Bogle. 2 EPs. Titled 2 EPS. Subtle difference. It has the brilliant song Lost on it. Worth buying for that alone. Now playing on the MB Record Show. Worth listening to for all the choices, I hope. buff.ly/J1w5Znd

Pauline Black. Excellent hat, and excellent winner of the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award at this week's Independent Music Awards. The Selecter's version of Carry Go Bring Home, from a 1979 Peel session, is on the MB Record Show. As a round of applause. buff.ly/J1w5Znd

It's Reluctant Bob. The Lonely Lovers were taking the photo, I think. Yes, he's holding the guitar the wrong way. But he held it the right way when he made the great single Carry On Without Me. Being played again on the MBRS/Late Show. buff.ly/J1w5Znd

During breaks in the recording sessions, Ringo often gave recorder lessons. The other Beatles appreciated them, probably because of the rhyme. This day in 1967, they did a version of Fool On The Hill. The words aren't all there but it's still a marvel. On the MBRS now. buff.ly/J1w5Znd

I assume The Black Watch put cats on the cover in the hope that it will prove to be popular on the internet. Or maybe John (The Black Watch Chairman) likes cats. The Fuzzy End Of The Lollipop, it's called. Never You Mind is on it. And on the MB Record Show. And sounding great. buff.ly/J1w5Znd

Speaking of box sets, I like the fact that on The Last were the first band on a collection called This Can't Be Today. Here's what the original single looked like, if you're missing it. She Don't Know Why I'm Here. 1977. Which was early for a 1965 sounding record. On the MBRS now. buff.ly/J1w5Znd

Something from The East. Well, the box set which came out last month. A Strange Light From The East : Eastern Influenced Western Music 1965-1972. Even the title is neat. This is great, too. As played on the MB Record Show, where neatness is appreciated. buff.ly/J1w5Znd

The Strawberry Alarm Clock, just going over their moves for the Waves Of Tory segment of their show. In the meantime, their hit - Incense And Peppermints - is gracing the MB Record Show. "Who cares what games we choose Little to win, but nothing to lose" Indeed. buff.ly/J1w5Znd

It never normally rains anywhere Rat Scabies is, so I assume this is a staged photo for the single. Rockabillytastic , it is too. Singer Emily Breeze is the real star, though. Now on the MBRS buff.ly/J1w5Znd

It's the ever stylish Mr Duffy. Stephen to his friends. Tin Tin to his fans. Kiss Me. The hit. He's better known for his collaboration with more famous people - and made more money, I hope - but a hit is a hit. Nothing more satisfying. Now on the Late Show wMB buff.ly/J1w5Znd

I do love the washed out qualities of the artwork for Five Songs. The Delivery Service EP, which is wonderful. Another outing for First Kiss. Not as romantic as it sounds. But brilliant all the same. Now on the MBRS buff.ly/J1w5Znd

It's Cecil Womack's birthday today. No longer with us, but the brothers best known song is worth another airing. It was brand new when covered by the Rolling Stones. Both versions are great, of course. And one of them is on the radio this evening round here. buff.ly/J1w5Znd

Bobby and Emma from British Birds. I really wanted their new record to be called 'I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Ice Cream'. But it's not. It's called 'Murmurate, Oscillate'. It's great. And the title song is on the MBRS. buff.ly/J1w5Znd

I remember seeing this in O'Neill's front room in 1974. It was the right record to have then. Today , too. If you're going to have an Eagles record, I mean. Already Gone (to follow Strange Pink's Gone Already) now on the MBRS to demonstrare how clever the Disc Jockey thinks he is. buff.ly/J1w5Znd

The best Punk record ever made? The “goodbye” at the end feels like punk’s final breath. Still have my newspaper copy too. I always assumed the lyrical barbs were aimed at the press/music press as well as Malcolm McLaren but that might be just my interpretation.

Julie London. Who did a mean version of 'They Can't Take That Away From Me' by George Gershwin. It's on a new three disc set of music that inspired Brian Wilson. Harmony In My Head, it's called. Sadly, no Buzzcocks. buff.ly/sVsg5Rl

The Vogues. The stories they could tell of rock and roll excess and squalor. They did the first version of You Baby, written by P.F. Sloan. It didn't get released though. Not until the CD revolution. It's a great version, though. Now on the MBRS, to mark P.F.'s birthday. buff.ly/sVsg5Rl
