A short video by me, from a past #AATP! Back in the days before AI slop, with its associated environmental and societal abuses, began to infest everything including this otherwise excellent event. Spending my #OnePlaceWednesday engaged in #OnePlaceStudy research that involves little or no GenAI.

Have you heard of a medieval black knight from the Arthurian world? Meet Moriaen, the protagonist from a Dutch chivalric romance by the same name, researched by Georgie Anderson, a PhD candidate from the University of Kent.

I’m not sure what economics there is to discuss in “kids shouldn’t starve to death”?
040
Michelle Watson @michwatsonoz.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
You want economics? Letting people starve to death for lack of money is an economic theory worthy of nothing but derision and people who espouse it should be shunned. That is a concept that should polarise people.

Our #ArchiveOfTheWeek, this fascinating notebook, shows that if you were travelling from Chesterfield to London in 1840 you would have changed coach 17 times and have needed 65 horses in total! The 158 mile journey would have taken 7 hours and 45 minutes. #EYAConnections
A handwritten page in a notebook. It begins 'Friday May 29th 1840. Journey to London.' It then lists each stop on the journey and how many miles there was in between.A double page from the same notebook continuing the details of the journey.A modern document, showing a table which summarises the journey, giving place names and distances in miles.

Yeah. But even in this scenario, being able to sit down in public for a discussion is a privilege that a lot of people don’t have anymore. Why would I want to interact with the people who made that a reality.

Let's be clear if the elders that shared their stories didn't want them to be kept by the gov/academics then that is the only option. Yes it sucks to lose this history, these words, and stories, but they belong to those elders and we must abide by their boundaries. thenarwhal.ca/trc-resident...
