I think a lot about how some ex-fundamentalist Christians adopt toxic leftist praxis and ideology as a stand-in for their former religion because they still crave the same high-control, high-shame relationship with the world

Imagine how awful and boring art would be if these criticisms were applied evenly instead of laser focused on romances written by women. "FOR A LOT OF REASONS I don't think it is ever okay to [insert most action movie plots] so it shouldn't happen in fiction either"

I don't when the idea that the romance genre equates to "things that should happen for real" came around, but it's as obscene as co-opting a discussion of a school shooting to scaremonger about video games

I have an idea for a story in the form of an instruction booklet for a fake board game that no one would ever want to play because it's so complex and miserable and very hard to finish. The name of the board game is "American Democracy". #writing #ttrpg

it's still fiction. y'all are turning a real life story of a chemically incapacitated student being raped by other students into handwringing about a fictional student fake dating a fiction postdoc. this is beyond even "talking about violent video games after a school shooting" territory.

A man replied to this saying in earnest that women need to get organized and fight for our rights and men will follow. We did that. We do that. We mobilized the largest single day protest in global history on every continent and yet I have fewer rights than my mom did at my age.

This (superb) reporting reveals ASU has basically attempted a full cover-up and the only reason they aren’t going to get away with it is the genuine courage and solidarity of his teammates. Very rare in college sport.

The first trait I knew about Mega is that she thinks she's ridiculously charming & irresistible despite being consistently resisted. Bryce on the other hand thinks he can handle any hard truth, but he's actually petulant if it's something he hasn't heard before. #AwesomeCharacters #Writing

I don't know why anyone cares about 1st day streams/1st week sales/etc. That's just a measure of name recognition. Artists who keep having huge quick drop-offs are not making money off of merit. #musicsky

#TBBChat #Writing My WIP covers a full year, from one New Year's Day to the next. I guess winter is special in the story because it's when the main characters met and then the next winter, their lives return to relative calm. It's a time of safety.

One of my favorite character traits is the ability to (barely) take a beating, so it's hard to choose. I love a character who gets their ass handed to them, but has the will to drag their bleeding broken body to safety and is no more afraid of the next fight. #writing #wrtitingcommunity

Before I got on a good preventative a couple years ago, I spent almost 20 years getting about 4-8 debilitating migraine attacks a month. I thought they weren't "chronic" because I wasn't counting the constant non-debilitating headaches in between. I now know those aren't normal either.

My dream book cover for my WIP would look like a magazine cover in the late 90s about the dark side of the World Wide Web. A little vaporwave, a little corporate graphic design. Corny, but hinting at real danger. #writing #writingcommunity

Having a LawyerMom has been convenient throughout my life. It's fantastic when writing crime because I can just randomly text her "Can you legally serve someone who's comatose or extremely incapacitated in the hospital?" and she's like "That's a really interesting question because..." #writing

I'm curious where people who don't have offices or even desks prefer to write. I have a one bedroom apartment and a teeny tiny desk. I usually write on the couch when the coffee shops are closed, but I wonder if it would be better trying to force myself to use the desk. #weeknightwriters

Mega was once studying computer science at a prestigious university, so how did she end up working at a nightclub? #TBBPrompt #writing

Oma's death wasn't unexpected. She'd already been struggling to care for herself when Mega was a teenager, let alone care for her orphaned granddaughter. Mega felt like she spent years waiting for the final shoe to drop. Every time she came through the door in high school and didn’t immediately see Oma on the living room couch, every time she came back to her dorm in college to a blinking light on her answering machine, her heart dropped. She was consumed with dread until she was sure the worst hadn’t happened.

Then one day, it did happen. The only family Mega had left in the world was gone. All that time she’d been trying to steel herself and it still hit her like a truck. People from the neighborhood she’d grown up with helped her with funeral arrangements, but she was still overwhelmed by everything her grandmother had left behind.

She lingered in San Jose for too long, in part because of guilt over enrolling in a university in Los Angeles in the first place. When she finally went back, she was a mess. She couldn’t sleep. She felt like she was constantly searching for something and didn’t know if it was something in the real world or her memories. She started going to parties more and more often and drifted away from the friends who tried to keep her grounded. Her grades were slipping and she could see exactly which way she was going. After her second failed class, she decided to save herself the humiliation of losing her scholarship and dropped out.

More exploration of enshittification and planned obsolescence in spec fit. It's alluded to in my current WIP, but it's a central theme of the idea I have for after I finish this one. More female main characters who are genuinely hard to like at first but become beloved. #writing #writingcommunity

Follow up questions for reporters: 1) Do you trust everything any politician says? 2) What made you believe you could trust Donaldd Trump despite his long track record of lying? 3) Are you still getting your news from the same sources that convinced you Donald Trump was trustworthy?
