Green council leader speaks out against Greens' 'Zionism is racism' motion
Council leader Tony Dyer says he feels "compelled to speak up on a personal level and on behalf of Bristol City Council"

Michele Grant @michelegrant.bsky.social · 18h
So just to be clear, if a jew supports a two state solution they are welcome and not racist? Are you able to answer yes or no?

So is their definition okay?

Michele Grant @michelegrant.bsky.social · 19h
There are lots of people you can link to who will give you an answer you prefer but the facts are straightforward. 66% of British Jews choose to identify as Zionist. It's not for you to question their reasons. Are they racist and are they excluded? Yes or no.
000
Michele Grant @michelegrant.bsky.social · 19h
Thank you for clarifying. 66% of British Jews identify as zionist. And the Green Party says they are all racist and are not welcome. Irrespective of their views on the occupation? Correct?

Michele Grant @michelegrant.bsky.social · 19h
If a jew believes in the right to self determination for jews and identifies as Zionist are they a racist and will they be excluded from the Green Party?

Michele Grant @michelegrant.bsky.social · 20h
Even at the height of Labour's antisemitism crisis, the Green Party motion would never have got Corbyn's support. He has never wavered on this.
011
Michele Grant @michelegrant.bsky.social · 20h
Or they can be honest and say we're going to set a test for Jews and exclude them if they identify as Zionist.
110
Michele Grant @michelegrant.bsky.social · 20h
This is about government led actions, which I deplore. They don't define Zionism which for the majority of Jews is simply the right to self determination.
100
Michele Grant @michelegrant.bsky.social · 21h
Can you clarify, for the avoidance of doubt, whether Jews who are Zionists, which they define as the right to self-determination for Jews alongside a Palestinian state, will be welcome in The Green party or excluded as racists?
000
Michele Grant @michelegrant.bsky.social · 21h
You have defined Zionism as an 'ethnonationalist Jewish State in historic Palestine to the exclusion and/or domination of the non-Jewish population'. Israel has a 20% non-jewish population with equal rights. This doesn't make sense.
100
Michele Grant @michelegrant.bsky.social · 22h
This doesn't make sense. If Zionism is racism then Jews who identify as Zionist are racists so you are welcoming racists in the party? Or do you mean Jews who disavow Zionism are welcome? Please clarify.
130
Michele Grant @michelegrant.bsky.social · 22h
Do you support self determination for the Jewish people alongside self determination for Palestinians? Yes or no? Your party policy is no. Please just be honest. These statements are not helping.

It's not true that the Greens new policy supporting the dismantling of Israel and replacing it with a Palestinian state won't make a difference. The difference it makes is to encourage maximalism by Hamas and an equivalent from the Israeli hard right. It is a recipe for more bloodshed.

Something I repeatedly find with far left politicians is that they seem to think that if they say the magic words "antisemitism has no place in our society" this frees them from doing anything tangible about the antisemitism right in front of their sanctimonious fucking faces.

Tim Farron - That the antisemitic entryists who have captured the Green Party, are being antisemitic, is no surprise. That the Party Leader skipped this vote and failed to use his authority to argue against them, is an astonishing act of weakness. Real Greens are welcome in the Lib Dems…
