There's also, from Emily Dickinson's letter to Elizabeth Holland (20 January 1856): "I took at the time a memorandum of my several senses, and also of my hat and coat, and my best shoes - but it was lost in the melee, and I am out with lanterns, looking for myself."

thin arms, thinner legs moving still on stone and wood - chokecherry dancer Sort of #Haiku , but there's enough metaphor involved that it might be for #SenryuSunday .
A twig from a chokecherry tree, propped against a stone on a wood railing, in a position that suggests (to me) two arms raised gracefully, and many legs, as if caught in mid-leap.

I like the contrast of heaviness of frost in the first line, with the delicacy of the web in the third line, joined through the shimmer and sparkle of the second line. I'm not sure which season it is, but I'd like to be there

Photograph taken in central Virginia of the base of an oak tree in the woods with acorns scattered before it. Through the foliage in the distance, you can see the river. Sunlight is streaming down through the branches.

Thank you Rebecca, the concept of a sentient land (Country, in Australia) in many cultures, has taught me new ways of thinking and relating. I make no claims to Indigeneity. I'm grateful to live in an interesting world with interesting people and other interesting beings.

You give us such a calm fall evening, Susan. You reminded me of a Wabenaki song about the stars that sing with their light. I don't have permission to quote their song. I write in my own words - green chorus of leaves, tan chorus of owls: sing with bright chorus of stars #HaikuSaturdayVersions

What if I walked out into the night and never looked back? Blending in to the inky darkness. Would I sparkle there like a glistening star? Since in the day, beneath the light of the sun, I am nothing— a shadow. But at home, with all the other shadows, perhaps I could shine. #mprompt
