At this stage it doesn't matter to me if this guy is cosplaying. I want a person who talks like this and then promises to back it up to be the next president. If there's somebody who winds up being more convincing than him in the next year or so, I'll vote for that person instead.

OK. If Dems remind people (not a given IMO) of that and Project 2025, it could work.

I hope Vought, but why do you think he’s vulnerable? He doesn’t have the visibility and incompetence of the others.

The Left Must Fight The New York Times’ Monopoly Too

If you want to really know how the outrage machine gets fired up: 1. Schmitt plans to drop “bombshell” on Smith 2. Someone plants story that Schmitt is a Vance VP contender to run same day 3. Right-wing Twittersphere gets talking points 4. Schmitt steps in it 5. Scheduled tweets go out anyway

Editors are a big problem with media today. Reporters don't write headlines and subheads, editors do. It is all too often that we see headlines and subheads frame a piece in a way friendly to Trump and Republicans when the story itself says something different

A while back, someone posited that on issues where both candidates are bad, you vote for the person (or party) who *you would rather have the fight with* and on a whole host of issues I would rather fight with Democrats to move them left, because they are, even at the margins, more moveable.

“Keep government out of my hair” (esp w/r/t medical decisions) is a fundamentally American modern trope. It’s not only traditionally conservative (i.e., trust the individual and family, not the gvmt), but it is a civil rights building block on the left (e.g., abortion rights, “my body my choice”).

He could have framed it as a parents’ rights decision meant for themselves, their child, and doctor, pertaining to 1/2 of 1% of people. He could also have pointed out that some parents are supportive of their trans kids and they would know best. But he didn’t. 🤦🏻‍♂️
