In Philly we have polling booths within walking distance in every neighborhood. they're staffed by locals who may look you up in the registry as soon as they see you appear. It's always a pleasure to vote in person and then mingle with neighbors after. I bring the staffers my cookies.

On so many painkillers post op, I probably shouldn't have been near knives. Nearly impaled my palm. But I had leeks, potatoes and good stock in my freezer. On a liquid diet Vichysoise was necessary. And delicious. Wait'll ya see the tooth.

Welp even if a few kids suffer and die, they still won't get it. Look at what they've done to thousands of kids with measles. I'll never get over the trauma of having it as a kid. I made sure my kids wouldn't.

You don't mind the taste of Indian Ocean shrimp? All South East Asian shrimp tastes like it's been in an oil spill to me. it would need sharp finish to camouflage that. I'll only use Gulf of Mexico or Alaska shrimp and they must show me the proof, the box they came in. I don't want farm raised.

I just keep reading. if there seems to be a senseless break between chapters, I build a little bridge to get the reader across. Sometimes it's a poem by me or others that foreshadows the next chapter. I have several like that in the book I've just finished, Solitary Host. I call them Interludes.

Finally submitted my 91,224 word mss to the publisher yesterday. He says he's eager to dig in to it but it will take time. Took me more than 30 yrs to write it. When I think if it gets published, it might only take a reader a few days to finish it. Still, fingers crossed. #WritingCommunity #Books
