I don't like messing with politics, but politics keeps messing with me. I'm just a nameless, faceless person. Lets leave it at that. Whatever my views on religion are, they do not include limiting the rights of others or forcing my beliefs on them

Andrew Denton gave a powerful address to the National Press Club this week. He outlined his hopes for the future of voluntary assisted dying in Australia. His two case histories of deliberate obstruction of VAD access was heart-wrenching. It's on ABC iView. iview.abc.net.au/show/nationa...

There is no shame in flipping burgers. Because there's no shame in being poor in a rigged, shit system. There is, however, a lot of shame in being a wealthy fuckface with a job and hoarding your wealth while others struggle to eat. Change your vernacular about the burger thing, please.

Which people felt heard? The people ideologically opposed to MAiD? Because not one person with lived experience would have felt heard in that committee

So Oct 10 is World Mental Health Day. Health Canada will as usual issue a statement - don't suppose they'll acknowledge they just announced an indefinite commitment to the following statement "a mental illness is not considered to be an illness, disease, or disability" - you wrote it, you own it.

How has he not either been silenced by the party or just forced to resign? The more he makes statements like this, the more it's clear it's representative of what this government actually believes behind closed doors

I can tell you they didn't talk to me. And I emailed Frasers office. I offered to meet him at Stanfield Airport on his way to or from Ottawa or anywhere in the HRM to discuss this from a lived experience standpoint. His office never bothered responding.

And there it is. The "Party formerly known as the Party of the Charter" has decided put MAiD for mental illness with advance requests for MAiD in one piece of legislation - clearly hoping Senators will throw people with mental illness under the bus in order to get advance requests.

Outrageous, and patently unconstitutional. A legislative attack on the autonomy and dignity of everyone suffering from mental illness.

So Fraser keeps mentioning the lack of mental health access as the reason for making a group of second-class citizens. Should we make second-class citizens of those in Vita, Manitoba, because the closest hospital is a ~40 minute drive away in Steinbach?

Watching this entire press conference now. I think one thing that will be overlooked is that Fraser has insinuated this government is prepared to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada

When telling Canadians that there exist a class of people less equal under the law, Sean Fraser speaks as if making a Tims order. When he speaks about somebody he can actually empathize with, he fights back tears and gets emotional. One press conference shows us what the Government thinks of us

Shocking absolutely nobody, when given the chance to set aside psychiatric paternalism and allow individuals to have autonomy over their lives and body, the government makes the wrong choice each and every time

Do you expect anything today regarding advanced requests? Fraser has kept it pretty vague at "the next steps".

Which is shocking, considering Quebec pre-emptively banned MI-SUMC regardless of what the federal legislation allows. Luc Thériault was by far the most thoughtful of those that were chosen for this

Very saddened to say I won’t be able to headline Tim Pool’s student event in Chicago this week. I unfortunately have other plans.
Hi Katherine,
Timcast Media is partnering with the Chicago Thinker to host a student event in Chicago on October 9 at 4:00 PM.
The event will feature a one-on-one conversation with Tim Pool followed by a live student Q&A. To create a dynamic and balanced dialogue, we are specifically seeking a featured guest to represent a left-leaning perspective.
Timcast Media will fully cover and arrange all travel and accommodations.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely,
[REDACTED]

Hi Lisa,
Sorry, I'll be too busy slamming my hand in a car door that day to talk with Tim. Hope you understand.
