This is the human cost of the current law. George’s mother had lived for years with multiple sclerosis and other debilitating conditions. In the end, she died by suicide, alone on the bathroom floor of her London flat. #AssistedDying #UKpolitics

Andy Burnham says his government will bring hope through a National Care Service. But dying people were told they had to wait for better care before they could have greater choice at the end of life. If that was the argument, the government now needs to deliver. #LabourConference🧵

Caroline has been carrying the memory of her mum Joan’s death for 24 years. Parliament had the chance to confront that reality but failed to do so. Caroline should not have to keep reliving the worst days of her life just to make politicians listen. #AssistedDying

We need to be honest about palliative care. It is vital and it should be properly funded. Everyone who is dying should be able to access the best possible support. But palliative care is not a magic. Assisted dying is not in competition with better care.
