Phenomenal collective wisdom presented here! Especially appreciated LeeSa McGhee from Milwaukee’s comment: “We are, in fact, educators. We don’t just sit behind the desk. We do more than just check out books. We educate the whole person.” #skybrarian #TLsky #edusky

Every student deserves a credentialed school librarian. As Dr. Emily Knox said on Episode 2 of the Liberating Lit podcast, “all kids deserve the best education possible, and that includes a school librarian.” 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
But I’m hoping to move that basically down into central and then southern Illinois to me. All kids deserve the best education possible, and that includes a school librarian. It takes resources. That’s really the main thing is that communities have to believe that it’s important.

Wyoming voters sent most of the state’s so-called Freedom Caucus members packing on Tuesday. In some counties, we are still dealing with activist board members and anti-library and anti-education voices, but this is a huge win for our state. Voting matters!! 🦬 🗳️ 🇺🇸 wyofile.com/in-stunning-...

@onthemedia.bsky.social featuring @doctorow.pluralistic.net was A+ this week! Love Doctorow’s ability to synthesize many arguments, see clearly, & cut through the nonsense. Discernment & prioritizing human well being & connection is key to using tech ethically & effectively. #edusky #tlsky
So should we stand in the middle on AI no, we should stand in favor of workers and the environment high-quality services and outputs. We should say that we want our healthcare to be good in our education to be good. Remember what I was saying before about discernment, you can’t evaluate an AI’s output unless you’re already an expert in its subject that that’s useful if you’re asking to spellcheck.AI isn’t a genie that can’t be put back into a bottle. It’s not a genie at all the most important thing about a technology isn’t what it does it’s who it does it for and who it does it to.And where we use technology to forge and maintain bonds of love and solidarity, that that’s why I fell in love with
