Utah added SEVEN more books to its state-mandated book ban list. Six of those titles are by women. 44 are now banned. This comes the week after a judge permitted a lawsuit brought against their book banning law to proceed. It's the busiest banning year for the state. bookriot.com/utah-bans-44...

What that experience taught me was that sometimes people whose job it is to defend the right to read simply don't. Sometimes, you're going to feel like you're the one in the wrong, despite being the one absolutely in the right, with facts, figures, and stellar reviews to point to as to why a book belongs on the public library shelf.

I've launched a new limited-run podcast. Liberating Lit brings to listeners the advocacy origin stories of the people who have been defending the right to read and championing literature, with the goal to inspire new advocates and refill the cups of those feeling depleted.
