A stable sense of purpose helps teens navigate life’s challenges | Cornell Chronicle
Like their emotions and self-esteem, teenagers’ sense of purpose fluctuates day to day, and those who experience it steadily – not just intensely – may benefit most.

How do we define "good" fMRI data? Especially with resting state, there are circularity risks if we evaluate data quality as showing the networks we expect to see. Javier Gonzalez-Castillo (& me & others) developed pBOLD, a new metric that uses multi-echo info. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6... 1/8

When I retired only around 25% of Full Professors in STEM were women. I was proud be one of them, and to support the success of fellow women in STEM through mentoring. This was not an organic process. It took hard work and persistence. And now The Regime is setting us back decades.

NIH grant terminations affected women scientists more than men, study finds
A new paper shows that women, particularly those early in their careers, have been disproportionately affected by NIH grant terminations.

So proud of @meganspurney.bsky.social and team for this exciting new paper from my lab! Younger adolescents' working memory performance benefits more from reward than older teens and young adults. This occurs even though all ages report similar preferences about reward value and cognitive demand.

Loved being a part of this project team! And super interested by our finding that reward-related improvements in working memory emerge during early adolescence (vs. mid- to late-adolescence in other cognitive domains). Shout-out to Megan and Katie for leading this charge!

We must keep calling out those that cave to the Trump Admin, and the latest is Northwestern. As part of their "deal," NU will pay $75 million, stop vital research, renege on agreements with its students over the war in Gaza, and more. Throwing your students under the bus to please Trump. Shameful.
