Students made their first minicomics in my intro making course - mostly standard format but this student, a first time maker(!), did something so off the charts I’m still reeling from it! & he made like 12 of them for his classmates! A paper engineering feat of flipbookery as well as killer drawing!

As for the copy-paste-ness of the side content (including the level design), I feel like it's intentional. It makes for a really interesting atmosphere because the slight differences become really glaring the deeper I get into the game. It gets creepier to me, and I love it.

I guess, as an "old," I don't have time to 'git gud' at stuff. Especially as a dad to a younger kid as well. So I just mitigate that with the assist features, and I appreciate that I can REALLY dial them in to fit my patience in any particular gaming session.

I get that. I'm really enjoying Resonant, honestly. The traversal and combat are all decent but I'm still having a ton of fun with it. My favorite parts are still the human/dialogue bits between Dylan and... anyone, lol. It's not as good as Wake 2 or the original Control but I think it's been great!

Welcome to a new era! I was so mad at first for many months, thinking about all the things I could've accomplished if I had gotten help earlier...but I got over it because everything that's happened made me who I am today. It's just now I'm a more focused and more emotionally regulation person!

While I don't feel great about needing an ICD implant before I'm 50, I *do* feel lucky I have insurance, because this was the final bill. I got my deductable earlier this year through P.T. after I was hospitalized at the end of last year so I don't have to pay anything out of pocket.

The final bill for my pacemaker/defribillator implant is $107,925.54

It's also very well optimized - I've got a really high-end rig (9800 x3d / 5080) and with everything turned on (path tracing, etc...) my game is still ridiculously smooth - no slowdowns or stuttering.

I dunno, maybe 10 hours in? I can see why some folks might not like it but I love it. Traversal can get a tad hectic and combat is really chaotic sometimes but I've gotten a lot better at handling it. The dialogue and story are gripping (and funny in the right ways) and it's gorgeous!

I thought they'd be really "edge-lord" but was pleasantly surprised after getting past the first chapter or two in the first book. It's still VERY violent and the humor can be super juvenile but it doesn't make it funny OR poignant. I don't need to convince anybody to read it, but yeah, worth it.

This isn't Ursula K. LeGuin or Ann Leckie-levels of complexity and commentary but it's more than surface level and I think that's really fun and interesting. I avoided the books because of the hype but, honestly, I have really enjoyed them so far.

But with more technology at their disposal. The books get deeper into who totally fucked the entire galaxy is amongst all the various races, planets, and systems. I like that it's REALLY messy while they put up this facade of superiority because they have spaceships.

A lot of them are so self-serious and there's no way that alien race doesn't have their own version of both the absurd and the banal. This is clearly not the only one but I just want to mention that Dungeon Crawler Carl does a pretty great job of portraying aliens as just other fucked-up cultures.

One thing that always annoys me about non-human cultures in science fiction is that they're often portrayed as these super efficient, logical beings who are always awed at humanity's "weird, dumb culture" because "why aren't they more serious about the galaxy" or whatever.

Oh, updates: - Defribillator / Pacemaker implant successful. Just in a lot of pain right now. - It's weird having a device that PUMPS MY HEART FOR ME SOMETIMES and I'm not exactly sure why it occurs sometimes and not others - I need to get them to dial it down a bit as my ribs hurt - Otherwise, ok.

The acting and characters are also top-notch. I will always watch Stephen Root in any role but everyone else is at his level and is a joy on the screen. Additionally, it tickles my New England roots as I keep thinking "I know that person!" or "I've met a dude like that" constantly.

@thefordon.bsky.social Got me to watch Widow's Bay on Saturday and, in one night, I binged 6 episodes. She rewatched them alongside me (she is 9 episodes in and wanted to watch the 10th with me) as well. So good. So fun! I love the mix of absurdity, comedy, and the truly horrifying.

I'm not into the Souls-like genre and any games that are similar because, well, I don't have the patience anymore to "git gud" and grind. I'm interested in the world building (especially in Elden Ring) but the gameplay just isn't my bag.
