Students made their first minicomics in my intro making course - mostly standard format but this student, a first time maker(!), did something so off the charts I’m still reeling from it! & he made like 12 of them for his classmates! A paper engineering feat of flipbookery as well as killer drawing!

While I don't feel great about needing an ICD implant before I'm 50, I *do* feel lucky I have insurance, because this was the final bill. I got my deductable earlier this year through P.T. after I was hospitalized at the end of last year so I don't have to pay anything out of pocket.

The final bill for my pacemaker/defribillator implant is $107,925.54

This is why more women don't come forward, and why more rapists aren't jailed. Because mostly-male cops and prosecutors find it more believable that a 20-yr-old would want to have sex with a room full of fraternity brothers than accept she was raped. What ever happened to common fucking sense?

One thing that always annoys me about non-human cultures in science fiction is that they're often portrayed as these super efficient, logical beings who are always awed at humanity's "weird, dumb culture" because "why aren't they more serious about the galaxy" or whatever.

I wouldn't have a problem with smartglasses if they also had a giant neon sign that hung above your head that read "I'm a narcissistic weirdo!" and every time you gave them the finger, it'd give the wearer an electric shock (mild).

Oh, updates: - Defribillator / Pacemaker implant successful. Just in a lot of pain right now. - It's weird having a device that PUMPS MY HEART FOR ME SOMETIMES and I'm not exactly sure why it occurs sometimes and not others - I need to get them to dial it down a bit as my ribs hurt - Otherwise, ok.

Got scheduled for a defibrillator implant this month, which is definitely a sentence I never thought I'd ever have to say. #TurningIntoDust

They're doing a game based on The Last Ronin?? I only saw a cinematic trailer so I am reserving enthusiasm but it's being developed by Platinum so... hopeful?? #TMNT

I really cannot think of a greater honor than to have the Muppets say this about you upon your passing

Instagram post from the official Muppets account: Few humans have earned the title of honorary Muppet more than the legendary Tim Curry. As a performer he was unparalleled - witty, charming, unnerving, and deeply funny. We will always consider it one of our greatest treasures to have been part of Long John Silver’s crew. Thank you for everything, Tim.

@thefordon.bsky.social Got me to watch Widow's Bay on Saturday and, in one night, I binged 6 episodes. She rewatched them alongside me (she is 9 episodes in and wanted to watch the 10th with me) as well. So good. So fun! I love the mix of absurdity, comedy, and the truly horrifying.

I'm not into the Souls-like genre and any games that are similar because, well, I don't have the patience anymore to "git gud" and grind. I'm interested in the world building (especially in Elden Ring) but the gameplay just isn't my bag.

I want to start a comic-book book club with folks to chat about the cool comics I've been reading. I don't pick the latest and greatest - I'm slow and only grab stuff if it looks cool at the store or if a friend/someone I trust recommends it.

I'm REALLY late to this but I finally saw Contact this year and that is 1,000,000x a better movie than Interstellar. It even has Matthew McConaughey but his character is kind of a dick. I gotta read the book because no way Sagan put a religion apologist in there.

Totally Normal Eric @megadestructo.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

Since a lot of us are talking about Nolan's work: I hated Interstellar for many reasons and I think it sucks. But, honestly, if you know me IRL, you know I will not hesitate to talk shit about that movie.

Totally Normal Eric @megadestructo.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

I am interested in Nolan's The Odyssey but Odysseus is a bit of a dick. I mean, most heroes in Greek myth are (except for Hector IIRC, who wasn't even Greek). Also it's almost 3 hours long and I don't do that without an intermission (bio-break) anymore.

I thought I left this behind when we moved from SoCal but you can't escape the world burning:

Air Quality Index for Columbus, OH that reads 298 or "Very Unhealthy." It's a scale of 0-400 but I've seen it go over 400 before. At 300+ it goes to "Hazardous."

Am I glad a man is dead? Normally no. But I make exceptions for real dickwads. Anyway, I cannot believe I've slept on Blacksad for so long. For reason I had it cross-wired with The Puma Blues (which I've already read and loved ages ago). What a phenomenal comic!

Got my Steam Controller. It's really nice! Build quality isn't quite as nice as my Dualsense Edge but it's far more functional for PC games and I like that I didn't have to solder in TMR control sticks as they already come with them.

I'm reading "More Weight: A Salem Story" by Ben Wickey and it's very insightful and expertly crafted. It breaks down the Salem Witch Trials, focusing on the story of Giles Corey, interspersed with convos between Nathanial Hawthorne and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow as they walk through Salem in 1890.

I'm honestly not surprised Kojima would use AI for something like this. I'm not anti-Kojima (I think he's hit or miss but his hits tend to be great) but I don't get how people think this is shocking. Disappointing? Sure. But the man just does WHATEVER.

I just discovered Cultic and it's pretty fantastic. Minimal set-up but with great atmosphere, very satisfying gameplay, and weapons that feel great (like Boltgun - they have WEIGHT and IMPACT). Snippets of story as you play, just gets right to the action. Of course Blood-vibes, which is awesome!

New sword day! Also, first sword day! Club Rapier GDF from HF Armory (hf-armory.com/en/) in Ukraine. It's not the prettiest, but it's inexpensive and very well made. A little lighter than what I've used in class but it's the right length and it'll be perfect to practice distance management.
