Nah, this doesn’t“stun” me, and it shouldn’t stun you either. This is more evidence that Cornell’s main mission was always to protect Cornell, not the student. As w/many universities. One in 3 women at Cornell say they’ve been sexually assaulted. This institution needs to do better. Much better.

It’s not that I think people who commit heinous crimes don’t deserve to die. But I’ll never support the death penalty as long as our justice system is unjust. An unjust system should never have the power to make irreversible decisions, especially when Black people disproportionately pay the price.

More than a trillion dollars and four years into the AI bubble, it's not unreasonable to expect that we'd have solid data showing that AI was this major economic agent of change. www.wheresyoured.at/premium-how-...
We’re over a trillion dollars into the AI bubble with hyperscalers expecting to spend a trillion dollars more next year, and as you’ve read today, it’s really unclear as to what it is we’ve done other than pumping tech stocks and a chunk of GDP growth that is almost certain to disappear once the money runs out.

For the most part, every economic analysis I’ve found has tried to put lipstick on a pig. Putting aside GPU sales and data center construction, AI software sales and AI model efficacy do not appear to have had much of a meaningful impact on GDP, and what effect sales have had appears to have been vastly-inflated by outdated methodologies that have failed to keep pace with a tech industry that has, for the most part, not really innovated much in the last 15 years.

LLMs are too inconsistent, too unpredictable and too expensive to replace human beings, and none of the data I’ve seen seems to suggest that they’re doing much to enhance human productivity outside of accelerating the amount of questionably-stable and secure software shipped on a daily basis.

As I said in June 2024 www.wheresyoured.at/rotcombubble/
I believe we're at the end of the Rot-Com boom — the tech industry's hyper-growth cycle where there were so many lands to conquer, so many new ways to pile money into so many new, innovative ideas that it felt like every tech company could experience perpetual growth simply by throwing money at the problem.

It explains why so many tech products — YouTube, Google Search, Facebook, and so on — feel like they’ve got tangibly worse. There’s no incentive to improve the things you’ve already built when you’re perpetually working on the next big thing.

This belief — that exponential growth is not just a reasonable expectation, but a requirement — is central to the core rot in the tech industry, and as these rapacious demands run into reality, the Rot-Com bubble has begun to deflate. As we speak, the tech industry is grappling with a mid-life crisis where it desperately searches for the next hyper-growth market, eagerly pushing customers and businesses to adopt technology that nobody asked for in the hopes that they can keep the Rot Economy alive.

The Senate recessed on Wednesday. And so Trump waited until today to whine that Tom Cotton held up a bill that would change Daylight Savings, which pisses Trump off bc (Trump says) it hurt the PGA. Tom Cotton is probably the 17th least endangered GOP Senator. But this year? In the south?
A very long Trump post complaining that Tom Cotton held up a bill that would change Daylight Savings. Trump's mad bc that hurts the PGA.

I've marked that logic with blue boxes and numbered labels;
1) Trump attacks Tom Cotton
2) during election season
3) because he was mean to PGA
