The Ethiopian gov has been seeking to shutter Tigrai TV as the outlet frequently provides reporting on army atrocities in Tigray. The Ethiopian Media Authority announced that it had suspended Tigrai TV's operating permit. Because it's based in rebel held territory, it's not something it can enforce.

OPULENCE Kenya's diplomatic push at the United Nations has come under scrutiny after seven Cabinet Secretaries joined President William Ruto in New York, alongside MPs, senators and governors, swelling the delegation to nearly 100 officials at an estimated Sh500 million cost. The expensive overseas entourage came as key Cabinet Secretaries skipped a Senate Mashinani sitting in Kilifi, where senators and residents expected answers on issues affecting their livelihoods.
Critics questioned the wisdom of such spending amid pressure on public finances, while officials defended the trip as necessary for diplomacy, investment and development deals masser

In Tigray, from 2020-2022, six million ppl were cut off from the outside world, which enabled an Ethiopian state campaign of genocide that killed 100s of thousands. Comms outages trigger fear & trauma as a result. For background context on the two year outage, my @reuters.com reporting from 2022.

It's Ethiopia's state telecommunications provider Ethio Telecom has shut down its services across Tigray. For now, the service of Kenyan telecom provider Safaricom, which also provides phone and internet to Ethiopia, remains active and people in the region are not completely disconnected.

UPDATE: As war rages on in Ethiopia, @netblocks.org has confirmed what it calls a "subnational internet disruption," in the country's north. Phone/internet is disrupted across the Tigray region. A very bad sign. Comms blackouts in our region are typically implemented when atrocities are planned.
