I get what they were going for with "Lanterns" but it just didn't land with me at all. I'm glad other people enjoyed it though. It wasn't "bad," just not my cup of tea. I could get behind Kelly McDonald and Kyle Chandler in another context, they had a relaxed kind of chemistry.

A co-worker of mine was shocked today when I mentioned that once upon a time you could just smoke cigarettes right in the office. I didn't even tell her there was a big smoking lounge in the 4th or 5th floor of the main classroom building when I went to Georgia State. (A good place to study though.)

The Obama Presidential Library posted the Hamilton performance in the White House on YouTube and this moment spoke to me. With no pit, the band was squeezed in and during "What'd I Miss?", bassist Richard Hammond is awkwardly prominent behind the coolest guy in the show. A true bass player moment.

from back in the day (AFF 1985) when fan con program books included listings for all the local fan clubs and shops you could connect with, tremendously useful information that modern conventions have largely abandoned. Listings like this are part of why some cities have vibrant fandom scenes.

Drop an album that was important to you when you were nineteen. Young was a non-entity for most of my teens, but this came out at the right time for me and him. It was inspiring that he was this older guy with a wonky voice and passionate but not flashy guitar skills just doing his thing.
