A thought exercise I came up with the other day: A train goes off the rails, or goes rogue, as you might describe it. In the process it causes considerable damage, lives lost, whatever. Is the train responsible or is the railroad that operated it?

It's a little thing that adds a lot of oomph to the scene, especially if you assume the audience is going to be paying attention to the narration happening in the audio stage center.

A minor change to this scene added for this bit in the audio adaptation that has stuck with me: while Old Ruthye narrates her thoughts, we have the sounds of the gunfire, breaking windows, and Young Ruthye crying in fear. They add Supergirl repeatedly reassuring Ruthye: "It's OK! It's OK!"

There is one scene in the story where unseen gunmen open fire on a hotel room that Supergirl and Ruthye are in. In the comic, we see Supergirl shielding Ruthye with her body as bullets bounce off of her, while the narrator (an older Ruthye) ruminates on how her people view death.

They use a lot of audio effects to suggest the stuff happening in the visuals, and there is some added dialogue for the sake of exposition, with one of my favorites being the sounds of gunfire followed by an exasperated "You're kidding me, even her eyes are bulletproof?!"
Supergirl angrily flicks a spent bullet from the corner of her undamaged eye, from the comic "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow."

Recently listened to the audio adaptation of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. It's a pretty close to 1:1 adaptation of the comic, with some allowances made for the switch from visual to audio mediums. Obviously you miss out on the amazing Bilquis Evely artwork, but they do an admirable job regardless.

It’s so funny to imagine what the UK could be like if it took seriously any of its cultural icons—that aren’t wizards, Shakespeare, or in possession of good fortune but in want of a wife. We could have Tyranid statues at Heathrow. Perhaps a grisly frieze depicting Servitor conversion at Gatwick.

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

Although now I recall the bit in one of the Horatio Hornblower books where a French howitzer shell lands on the deck of Hornblower's flagship and he's able to quickly smother the fuse before it can go off. The burning fuse ends up destroying one of his mittens.

Using “northern” or “southern” in terms of sides during the Civil War neglects that there was resistance to secession and the Confederacy, paid in full by 100k white southerners who wore blue. There were also northerners who, for reasons of profit and partisan politics supported the Confederacy.
