Out of the four organisations you've mentioned, are any of them currently considered allies by European and US governments, or no? Any of them currently being given material and diplomatic support by European and US establishments to continue their actions, or no? Who's the one struggling here?

In what possible world could it be even remotely true that "the only people who get to define a political movement are the people it consists of"? What an absolutely wild take! That's not how political movements work, it's not how defining things works and it's not how words work

Sure they'll both be great, but I won't be finding out because unlike them I've come across the concept of solidarity in my life. And it's interesting to wonder what they both might have had to agree to say or not say, and how explicitly that agreement was given

Here's a handy guide. If the media are saying a politician is doing socialism, they're not doing socialism. If a politician is doing socialism, the media is telling you they're doing islamic terrorism, destroying western civilization, turning your kids gay and in league with china.

You can indulge in this kind of emotionally satisfying, high-handed, Sensible Centrist paternalistic dismissal of anyone who says something that threatens your sense of yourself as a good person, or you can actually be left wing, but you can't do both, not if words are still going to mean things.

one of the greats by one of the greats: Brigit Pegeen Kelly’s “The Leaving”
The Leaving
My father said I could not do it, but all night I picked the peaches.
The orchard was still, the canals ran steadily.
I was a girl then, my chest its own walled garden.
How many ladders to gather an orchard?
I had only one and a long patience with lit hands and the looking of the stars which moved right through me the way the water moved through the canals with a voice that seemed to speak of this moonless gathering and those who had gathered before me.
I put the peaches in the pond's cold water, all night up the ladder and down, all night my hands twisting fruit as if I were entering a thousand doors, all night my back a straight road to the sky.
And then out of its own goodness, out of the far fields of the stars, the morning came, and inside me was the stillness a bell possesses just after it has been rung, before the metal begins to long again for the clapper's stroke.
The light came over the orchard.
The canals were silver and then were not, and the pond was—I could see as I laid the last peach in the water—full of fish and eyes.

I get why people are asking “what have we become?” but the answer is “exactly what you’d expect from a decade and a half of the press reciting the spicier bits of Mein Kampf at the public, and our whole ruling class agreeing we need to crack down on the lesser races and their Bolshevik allies”.

This is all very awkward because Israel, as a society, is dead set on destroying or removing the Palestinians as a people and they are not shy about saying this is what they want. It makes it difficult to convince the public the people who recognised this are worse than the ones calling them names.

Ed Sheeran claiming to be 'culturally Irish' gives the vibe that he thought being Irish was pints o' Guinness and shamrocks rather than implacable multi-generational communitarian struggle against imperialism.

I am staggered by the insistence on the part of the press that a small rich village in Oxfordshire flinching at shadows and throwing a tantrum is worthy of news coverage. These people don't have real problems, they aren't afraid, they live in a sheltered bubble and have melted their brains.
