What I’m hearing is that we can combine Fat Bear Week and the election. Put some of those bears on the debate stage with the human nominees and you’ve got guaranteed ratings.

Look, it’s pretty obvious that God hates the Lions, but someday they’re gonna win anyway and it’s gonna be like that thing in Dogma where if they prove God wrong the world ends So be ready for that, I guess

Without saying your age, what is your favourite movie that came out when you were 20 years old? Ok, so this is my legit favorite movie from that year (and all time, really), but my best movie theatre experience was Snakes on a Plane.

I just got a fundraising email for Amy Acton paid for by Jocelyn Benson, and I gotta say if this is part of a plan to get me, a reliable Dem voter, to question how worthwhile voting is at all, it’s a pretty good one. Also Michigan pols should only discuss Ohio in the context of annexing Toledo.

Hey @freep.com, this isn’t a “politically divided household,” it’s two Republicans but one of them is voting strategically based on racism.
Members of a politically divided house vote in the primary
Dave Boucher
Archery targets line a field at the Livingston County Wildlife and Conservation Club, located in Hamburg Township in the southeast corner of the county.
Thomas and Norma Harper, who live across the street from the club, cast their primary ballots about 45 minutes before the polls closed Tuesday. Married 23 years, they're a politically divided house: Thomas, 63, voted in the Democratic primary while Norma, 62, voted in the Republican primary.Thomas said he voted solely to try to prevent Abdul El-Sayed from winning the Democratic Party's nomination to the U.S. Senate, incorrectly suggesting El-Sayed was not born in the U.S. El-Sayed was born in Michigan, while his father and other family immigrated from Egypt.

Thomas and Norma Harper voted in separate primaries on Aug. 4, 2026, at the Livingston County Wildlife and Conservation Club in Hamburg Township. Thomas voted in the Democratic primary so he could vote for U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens, while Norma voted in the GOP primary. Dave BoucherNorma Harper said she voted for Perry Johnson in the GOP gubernatorial primary because she likes his commercials.
In the general election, both Harpers thought they'd vote for the Republican nominee for governor. But Thomas Harper said if Stevens wins, he hasn't decided if he'll vote for her or the likely GOP nominee, Mike Rogers.
"She sticks up for family and children," he said.
"She does, and it's important."

Is there anything more satisfying than getting a crossword clue because of a book you read in elementary school? You get it right and you get to reminisce. Thanks, @danielpinkwater.bsky.social, for having Uncle Borgel teach me what an eft is.

@fondalee.bsky.social’s The Last Contract of Isako is simultaneously an enormously rewarding stand alone novel, and also immediately at the top of the list of books I’d love to get a sequel, or another story set in that world. Every bit of it built to a well earned, satisfying end. Go read it!
