I appreciate that Dolly Parton refused to participate in "dress respectability" and, by her own account, modeled her aesthetic after a town "tramp," who she thought was beautiful. She separated aesthetics from character and understood "classiness" to be about how you treat people, not how you dress.

Whether or both you agree with it matters far less than if the people of big 5 Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin agree. She’s have far more credibility if she won one or two of them in 2024 but losing all them makes a clear cut case against her electability.
