Impossible to overstate how dramatically living somewhere I can walk to buy groceries and go to events while still being able to hike etc. easily has improved my quality of life

When I lived in Copenhagen I biked all over the city from one end to another, often anywhere between half an hour to an hour per ride, to go to libraries, concerts, museums, art shows, etc., all through the winter because the infrastructure there is *set up for it.*

I'm not sure folks have realized just how crazy the second half of 2026 and 2027 will be for global temperatures – on the back of a record-smashing El Niño event. Here is my latest estimate of where both years will end up compared to global temperatures since 1850.

Just a reminder that there is no safe level of wildfire smoke exposure - it's very much worth limiting time outdoors, filtering indoor air, and wearing an N95 outside. This won't be the last or worst smoke event and health impacts from repeated exposure are cumulative and long-term.
