Even though it was for the silliest thing I’ve ever written, I just wanted to share with #writingcommunity that I got my first short story published in print. I can’t believe I found a suitably silly journal 🤪

Does the fact that i’m going through a Cher phase mean I’m entering middle age? I’m only 34… i thought I had more time 😕

Opinion | Hillary Clinton: How Kamala Harris Can Win and Make History
I’ve been called a witch, a “nasty woman” and much worse. Harris will face unique additional challenges. But we shouldn’t be afraid.

I need a part replaced on my bike, so I rode it along the Greenway to the bike shop, then caught a streetcar to the ferry to get back home. Couldn’t help but to think, what a cool little adventure!

I’m agnostic, but honestly, policies based on Jesus’s teachings wouldn’t be so bad. They’d be: vague, empathetic, inclusive, and progressive. The christian nationalist don’t even know what’s in the book. Their gospel is cruelty.

From a barron’s article. This totally ignores that reduced-methane cows will still either cause deforestation on a massive scale, unless their raised in CAFOs which are wildly inhumane. There’s no way to ethically AND sustainably raise cattle.

FYI, Louisiana’s governor just signed into law surgical castration for sex offenders, and a requirement to hang 10 commandments in every public school classroom. This is Christian nationalism, arcane and cruel. Our state has such great need, but our leaders are fixated on causing liberal outrage.

Great first step to tackle food waste and, by extension, food waste related greenhouse gas emissions. Biden isn’t my ideal candidate, but between not-quite-good-enough efforts in the right direction, and SCOTUS appointees, it’s a pretty easy vote to cast. www.nytimes.com/2024/06/12/c...

I forgot that modern southern summers doesn’t just mean extreme heat, but also unsafe air. I’m willing to go for runs when it’s hot, but my lungs react poorly to high ozone levels. #climatechange Eat less beef! Eat the rich, and vegetables!

I have a fairly minor medical concern, which has given me a refresher course in two things I already knew: 1) American medical infrastructure is totally fucked 2) google is an extremely dangerous place for someone with medical questions, and now with AI it’s become more reckless and consequential

During my post-storm jog this afternoon, a tree just snapped and crashed down right before my eyes. I was at a totally safe distance but it was still really jarring and incredible! Also, in the movies, people are always outrunning falling trees. No way! Snap, gasp, crash. 1.5 seconds? #nature

Book title: Structuring Life to Support Creativity A resource book for creative people by Sandra Tayler.
Image shows a charming watercolor drawing of a house and building, but the colors fade away to reveal the black and white sketch underlying the art. In front of the house colored pencils, thread, paint brushes and other creative tools are lined up like a fence.

Today’s greenwashing example. The energy used to make these trash bags may come from renewables, but the bag itself is plastic, which is a petroleum product. Also, the zero landfill facility makes a product whose destination is intended to be the landfill. What a crock!

It’s amazing how some albums just take on an outsized role in your brain. In the months heading towards my high school graduation, the guy who drove me to school in the morning obsessively played Dookie by Green Day. Now every May or so I can’t help but to give it a listen, and it never disappoints.
