How to learn anything from the agent
You are asked to comprehend more than ever, and faster. Most of it arrives as an overwhelming wall of text, code or a video you don't have time to watch. The agent is the best learning tool any of us…

AI summaries are lame. A summary of a book is not the same thing as learning it. Let's be honest, you never read the summary of a meeting you missed unless you absolutely have to.

S is for Seed In the software factory metaphor, the Seed is the raw materials. You show up to the factory with a bunch of metal, wait a while, and a car comes out the other end.

W. Edwards Deming spent much of his career arguing against the old American, inspection-based approach to quality in manufacturing. My favourite analogy of his was making toast: “You burn, I’ll scrape.” One part of the system creates defects; another part tries to clean them up afterwards.

Situation 3: devs a and b are pairing with LLMs. They get two agents to implement both X and Y then evaluate the real code instead of arguing in the abstract.

Fuck. 3 year old family fridge freezer broke at the weekend. $1000 repair, only available in a city 2.5 hours drive away. Now we have a very expensive, increasingly smelly, shiny cupboard in our kitchen.

Vibe coding is addictive. Steve Yegge calls it out here: steve-yegge.medium.com/introducing-... I’ve definitely experienced this myself. Even though I’m practicing TDD, I think the “random factor” of working with a robot brings back that variable-reward dopamine feeling from pre-TDD days. 🫠
