37 immigrants were arrested in an aggressive, military-style raid of a Chicago apartment building. Then they seemingly disappeared. Who were these men, women and children taken in the middle of the night, and where did they go? 🎧️ Listen to their stories:

gwen does fantastic work as usual on some of the 401,000 trans people who’ve had to flee hostile territory in their own country in the past 18 months.
Poster which shows color photo scene of moving, a room with boxes and clothes sitting on the floor, a chair, and the end of a bed (white rails forming a headrest and a mattress with a red cover). "The mass relocations in 2025 due to safety concerns, political conditions, and anti-trans laws nd policies have largely impacted conservative states across the country."

Look at this shit. #AbolishICE
A Boston federal judge today ordered the immediate release of an Ecuadorean national living in Framingham who was detained by the Border Patrol in Maine on May 14, handed over to ICE, shipped to Youngstown, OH, ordered released on July 1 on payment of a $15,000 bond, grabbed by Homeland Security in New Hampshire on July 25, shipped down to the Plymouth County jail and ordered released again by an immigration judge in Chelmsford on Aug. 4, on just $1,500 bond. Only this time ICE refused to let him out as it appealed his bond to the Board of Immigration Appeals in Falls Church, VA.

In a ruling this afternoon, US District Court Judge Indira Talwani said enough.

Book cover for ‘Dispatches from the Land of Erasure: Essays and Conversations’ by Philip Metres. The cover features an abstract geometric composition of overlapping rectangular blocks in various colors including blues, reds, greens, yellows, purples, and browns against a light gray background. The blocks appear layered and fragmented, creating a mosaic-like pattern that suggests themes of fragmentation and reconstruction. The title and author name are displayed in clean, dark typography at the top of the cover.

My cartoon for this weekend’s @theguardian.com books.
A sunny day in the park. People jog, walk their dogs and sit in the shade of the trees. A woman sits on a bench and says:

“It's my perfect job, really! Their owners are busy people who love them but don't have time to give the attention they need.

Nobody likes to think of them just lying around the house all alone.

So I pick them up bright and early and we spend the whole day in the park.

I read a few chapters of each and drop them home with a short precis of what happened. Everyone's happy!”

She is reading a book and has a pile of six more beside her.
