The 12yo has declared it Blanding’s Turtle Awareness Day! This amazing little endangered turtle with a bright yellow chin of central and eastern Canada and the US doesn’t show the common signs of aging and can have babies into its eighth and ninth decades. There are 90-something turtle Moms!

Both openAI and Meta were brainstorming what to do about the fact that the public absolutely hates AI, and they were both like 'what if we make it cute?' This is the type of deeply generic and predictable solution we can count on AI to come up with.

As an environmentalist who wants to see WAY less casual and business flights, I have mixed feelings about the privatization and enshittification of our airports. It seems we could price and reduce flying in more pleasant ways, that return more money to the public, but maybe this will work too?

Yes AI needs so much energy it's making our planet uninhabitable, and yes it's destabilizing art and culture, and yes, the people making it think there is a risk it could trigger even worse catastrophes, but on the other hand, everybody hates it, so we should invest all our money in it.

Went door to door on my condo floor last night signing people up to share their stuff. Awkward! But 100% of people who actually answered the door signed up! I want to do a podcast episode about it in the fall or winter -- anyone else want to try and be interviewed? Would also work for a block.
