Tory/Reform being pretty much level would also a dream scenario for him as neither will be able to decisively claim to be the tactical vote on the right.

With FPTP plus the tactical voting that would occur this would be a big majority for him. Tories and Reform being almost level is great for Labour too as neither will be able to claim decisively to be the tactical vote on the right.

Maybe he's somehow convinced the FT has published something so salacious about the Lee dynasty that it got your newspaper banned. I honestly can't think of anything else.

The environment minister who isn’t remotely left-wing even said you can’t air condition your way out of the problem, citing wildfires for example, and got slammed for that correct assessment.

Exactly, hence why it’s very disappointing to see that while polls show French voters being more and more concerned about the consequences of climate change (normal when it’s 40C+ & there countless wildfires) that parties with this calibre of environmental ‘policy’ are not sufficiently scrutinised.

Though like in France, the right can tack back with an easy ‘just install air con everywhere!’ which apparently seems to convince enough voters as ‘tackling climate change’, probably because it’s thought of as an easy solution to the entire problem, which it is not.

Nice that common sense finally prevails and the gate will be opened. Made 0 sense that the cycle lane dumped cyclists onto the pavement and through the narrow gate.

Can be gridlock on Charing Cross Road at 11pm… though extending the CC hours alone wouldn’t help: a lot of that traffic is Ubers who would have already paid the daily charge once so are incentivised anyway to make the most of it and head back in where the customers are at.

Cross River Tram being relaunched one day would be wonderful though. Such an annoying north south corridor to travel through Central London today with the traffic despite some bus lanes.

The gold standard used to be when buses had opening windows from the very front to the very back on both sides. Gets a decent air flow from front to back! Now the previously generous provision of opening windows tends to be concentrated in the middle which is useless unless you are sitting there.
010
Matthieu @matthieuldn.bsky.social · 22/06/2026
Oh yes those are good. But you better really hope the air cooling is working on the newest buses as they frustratingly have minimal opening windows which can be a problem if the air cooling is deficient.

This will be a highly controversial opinion but a New Routemaster tends to be far cooler! I might’ve just gotten lucky but it seems to be more consistent in being decently cool (relative to the usual standard of heat on a bus) than other bus types.

In my case it’s the Victoria Line which is the challenge. Feel very bad for those who’ll have to take it in 20-30 years time when presumably the 09 stock will still be running.

You also can’t discount the fact that the polls are off because they spurred people to vote tactically hence this but also Gorton and Denton not being close neither unlike what polls predicted.

Arguably though, the Translohr, being guided by a single rail (albeit with rubber tires), is still far more akin to a tram than a bus than FTR and the like.

Would I be right in thinking that roads outside TfL control need to have works undertaken to allow e.g. buses to divert from Oxford Street. Could they potentially block that... in effect blocking the entire scheme?

The 108 used to terminate at a bus station on the site before construction started. Looks on Streetview like there is space on the G/F under the building for buses to potentially park and turn around?

Actually managed to get two reasonably cool NRMs yesterday! And that’s despite one of them being an early LT which is usually thought of having worse air cooling.
