The 108 used to terminate at a bus station on the site before construction started. Looks on Streetview like there is space on the G/F under the building for buses to potentially park and turn around?

And even then, no sign of the actual numbers for the non victorious candidates.

Shout-out to Brent too for this horrible interface where if a ward is too far south, it's impossible to read the results.

So quite logical in that sense that they did well there (much to the despair of the RA... see leaflet included in Diamond Geezer's blog earlier this week). diamondgeezer.blogspot.com/2026/05/five...

This would probably not help with my goal of normalising andouillettes: but a lovely modern twist I had on the dish. Andouillette with a very rich Camembert sauce! At the amusingly named Burger et Ratatouille restaurant down in Montpellier

If you hadn't already guessed, the amendment is from Lord Walney. bills.parliament.uk/publications...
After Clause 137, insert the following new Clause—
“Designation and restriction of Extreme Criminal Protest Groups
(1) The Secretary of State may by regulations designate a group as an Extreme
5
Criminal Protest Group (“ECPG”) where the Secretary of State reasonably believes
that—
(a) the group has as its purpose and practice the deliberate commission of
one or more of the following offences—
(i) an offence under section 1 of the Public Order Act 1986 (riot),
(ii)
10
an offence under section 2 of the Public Order Act 1986 (violent
disorder),
(iii) an offence under section 1 of the Criminal Damage Act 1971
(destroying or damaging property), or
(iv) an offence under section 7 of the Public Order Act 2023 (interference
with the use or operation of key national infrastructure),
15 (b) such offences are carried out with the intention of influencing public policy,
parliamentary debate, ministerial decision-making, or the exercise of
democratic functions, and
(c) the activities of the group create a risk of serious harm to public safety,
democratic institutions, or the rights of others.
20 (2) A designation under subsection (1) does not amount to proscription for the
purposes of the Terrorism Act 2000.
(3) The following are offences in relation to group designated as an ECPG under
subsection (1)—
(a) membership of a designated ECPG;(b) promotion of a designated ECPG, including public advocacy, recruitment,
or dissemination of the group’s materials;
(c) fundraising for a designated ECPG, including soliciting or providing funds
or financial benefit;
(d) organising, directing or coordinating activities of the group;
30 (e) providing material support, training, funds or equipment to the group
where the person knows or ought reasonably to know that the recipient
is a designated ECPG.
(4) A person does not commit an offence under subsection (3) solely by expressing
35
an opinion or belief that is supportive of a designated ECPG, where that expression
does not amount to encouragement or assistance of criminal conduct.
(5) An offence under subsection (3) is punishable on conviction—
(a) on indictment, by imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years, or
a fine, or both;
(b)
40
on summary conviction, by imprisonment for a term not exceeding six
months, or a fine, or both.
(6) Before making regulations under subsection (1), the Secretary of State must lay
before Parliament a statement of reasons explaining why the designation is
considered appropriate.
(7)
45
The statement under subsection (6) may exclude material the disclosure of which
would, in the opinion of the Secretary of State, be contrary to the public interest,
including on grounds of national security or the prevention or detection of crime.”

Great to see @conunitucl.bsky.social research on government defeats in the House of Lords cited in today's Guardian Editorial! www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
From the Guardian editorial linked in the post: "Instead, Labour’s main preoccupation in the Lords is not reform but party advantage. Though Labour has its large Commons majority, there are currently 282 Conservatives in the Lords, compared with 209 Labour peers. The government has lost over 100 divisions in the Lords since 2024, most recently on the employment rights bill on Wednesday. Peers have also dug in against the private member’s bill on assisted dying. Labour leaders in the Lords want more Labour appointments, so they can push such opposition back. That may sound reasonable, but it merely feeds an ermine arms race which has made both main parties enemies of reform for years."

Anybody also care to tell them that under the existing criteria that they’ve set that people already need a high standard of English?

The 'restricted period' is defined under Clause 19... a 12 month period from when notice is given by the landlord.

Instead... under Clause 15 which inserts a new Section 16E we have this... which makes reference to a prohibition to re-let or market a property for a 'restricted period' if they made use of grounds 1 or 1A in Schedule 2...

It's a real pain to find but this is basically it (few posts may be necessary so bear with me). The easiest sign of it existing is this HoL amendment (which the government was defeated on -- so this will be back in ping pong) shortening the 12 month restriction on re-letting a property to 6 months.

This is polling of by (old) region of the then-plans to merge the French regions. Today, it's something that isn't really talked about anymore. Apart from a departement or two which wants to jump regions, everyone seems to live with it just fine. Will probably be the same here!
