RIP to Cronos. The genre quickly outpaced Venom long before I was even born, but when I watch early performances from a time before rock and roll and metal had diverged trajectories, I understand just what it meant to actually be scary and evil youtu.be/0u-qmfUFeXI?...

Latest @leftofphilosophy.bsky.social w/the best review of Anton Jäger’s Hyperpolitics so far. IMO the key is that you also need to be burnt out from posting to get the stakes of the argument; many negative reviews are still hooked on the lure of posting as praxis podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/w...

I can’t believe the news that Andy Williams from ETID died. What this band has come to mean for the end of a whole approach to and era of heavy music, through no intent of their own, is a profundity I wouldn’t wish on anyone. This video is chilling now: t.co/7gtRp9k9M0

Fascinating interview with Fukuyama from two days ago. He remarked once that his End of History thesis was akin to a Marxist theory of history that gets off the train one stop early. Here, he sounds as if he's describing a departing train www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkPE...

when I was a kid my mom was trying to explain to me the concept of heaven--that we'd be with Jesus forever--and I still distinctly remember how terrifying this concept was. Every day the same? I'm with one guy FOREVER? it was a foundational epistemological horror I've been dealing with ever since

Caught a small chunk of Christian Marclay’s THE CLOCK at LACMA (~3:50-4:23). Didn’t realize how much it would make you think less about when a clock is on screen and more when time is given in the script—not just for suspense (“you have one hour”) but by characters often getting the time wrong
