Can anyone smarter than me explain how the government aims to create new pre-strike binding mediation legislation (which essentially removes striking as an active tool), yet claims that it will "never interfere with a worker’s right to bargain or to strike?" Because this seems, uh, bad!

when i worked at sbux in high school they kept scheduling me for like 35 hours a week and i kept saying i can't work this schedule i have to go to school. turned out they were hugely overscheduling kids to avoid giving enough hours to the adults that they would've qualified for health insurance

I just want to also name Peter Singer, at the top of the list. The most famous philosopher in the world, many would say. Awarded so many prizes. Hosted as the big speaker at events around the world. He started espousing "the disabled would be better off dead" in the late 90s, I think.

I have also been thinking of Aaron Swartz often —he downloaded scholarly essays in the hopes that information migbt be free & was hounded to death. Silicon Valley has stolen all scholarship and creative work with impunity, so that they might put it behind a moat in order to control the future.
