Papers with fake Western blot can be retracted, but what are the consequences for a company who sell antibodies based on fake images? Can they be sued for misrepresentation? In Québec we have a pretty strong Consumer Protection Act, I am wondering if this could be used in this particular case.

As a vitamin K researcher, I found this very concerning. Newborns are at high risk of being vitamin K-deficient because vitamin K does not cross the placenta barrier well. This increases dramatically the risk of hemorrhages, because many coagulation factors require vitamin K to be activated.
