I am a (very sporadically active) member of a group I joined two years ago. It's mostly Christian and active in their churches, white, suburban, men and women in their 70s. The group formed to educate itself on antiracism. They recently had a book discussion with questions sent out in advance.

I'm tired of how the original architects of the shitstorm we're living in all begin trying to get in their god's good graces the minute they get to the age when their time is almost up. No, Karl, you don't get to fuck off to heaven and leave us with this mess you created

As some of my closer followers know, a month ago I had the unfortunate task of writing an obit and a eulogy for my mother. I had never written either and had no idea how. Went looking for instructions and the amount of work it now takes to dodge all the various AI helpfully trying to write one 4 u

I couldn't finish the gift article on first try because it made me too angry. But now I did and omg wait till you guys see the construction the author wants to see your young adult children going into. Omg it's so funny I'm not even mad TO BUILD THE FUCKEN DATA CENTERS LMAO OH GOD
Silicon Valley and Wall Street are pouring trillions of dollars into the construction and maintenance of data centers. Stijn Van Nieuwerburgh, an economist at Columbia University, projected that AI-related capital expenditures will make up 3.6 percent of America’s GDP each year through 2032, “larger relative to the economy than the major U.S. canal, railroad, electrification, highway, and telecommunications investment booms.” The build-out has created 216,000 construction and contractor jobs over the past four years, Goldman Sachs estimates.

WHY can't we have robots laying the damn BRICKS by the way? Asking as a close family member of someone who *did* graduate in the late 2010s and see the writing on the wall, and *is* trying to make a career in trades, +had in-laws who worked in construction. Ooh I've got stories.

Can we find the people who invented and designed the blinking light on your car's side mirror when someone's in your blind spot, and put them in charge of everything? (No reason, just a random observation after driving across town in rush hour and being relieved to see everyone's mirrors blinking)

The most ordinary man imaginable came to my home state to tell me to ‘get out of America’ while he & Absent Ashley enjoyed the comfort of buildings my ancestors helped build. Imagine standing on the shoulders of the ppl who built this country & then telling their descendants they don’t belong here/2

Wouldn't the reason why AI music sounds "very, very good" be that it had trained on decades of real music and finally stole enough from it to cobble together something that wouldn't sound out of place in a department store or your dentist's office? Support your local artists, not what this is

I caught the tail end of similar to this vibe happening at Mensa events. The boomers were the main perps. People organized into groups, made looking out for each other their taken-seriously job, passed along the names of the guys that weren't safe to be around,

I'm old enough to remember everyone online saying "we just need to wait for the boomers to die off and then this country will recover". Now starting to hear that Gen X, in fact, needs to also die off (so another 40-50 years). But look at these guys. It's not about generations. We need a reform

Oh and another thing! Gen X is now ages 46 to 61. Most of us do not, in fact, work our asses off. The oldest of us are either enjoying a senior-level career with kids out of the house, or are retired. The youngest might the working a lot due to being at highest point in their careers/teenage kids.

I have no dog in this fight, but I do have opinions! 1) The Post found the "wealthy transplants remodeling the city to suit their needs" narrative and will exploit it to death and I don't like it at all 2) My mom regularly walked across a suburban six-lane road to neighborhood Aldi, for exercise

My state was a battleground, purple one when my family and I came to the US. Apparently was a blue state before that. I live in Ohio. There's no such thing as a safe state, super or not. Even CA and WA have entire communities of hard-right, MAGA voters, some of whom I used to know personally. Vote

U.S. Government to Potentially Block International Prescription Shipments Starting October 22, 2026

Hi Maria,

Please place all new and refill orders prior to October 9th, 2026.

Beginning October 22, it is possible that prescription medication parcels could be blocked from entering the United States. This change stems from a new U.S. Customs and Border Protection (US CBP) policy on international mail, which will disrupt personal importation of medication.

What’s Changing

Parcels from pharmacies anywhere outside the United States will be reviewed and potentially refused if the medication is also sold in the U.S. This restriction could effectively close the personal importation pathway that millions of Americans have relied on for more than 25 years.Keith is once again asking, "what the fuck, Donald?"

Found this when I was cleaning out mom's apartment. I'm fairly certain at least three babies in my family (myself and my both sons) slept on or under it at some point. So, of course, it is now being used by Uncle Keith, because he's also a baby

Brings to mind how, anytime in the past 25ish years, at any party that wasn't my work friends' get-together, whenever someone would ask "so what do you do" and I'd tell them, their eyes would glaze over and they'd skedaddle away, muttering "I know nothing about computers"

At the risk of sounding like "not all religions", it's not all religions. E.g, the reconstructionist synagogue that I joined a couple of years ago stands for all the right causes. I am thinking of other church communities, both in the past and now, that fight the good fight.

I wish politicians would understand that, when they throw a vulnerable group under the bus for political points, no matter how tiny and inconsequential the group may seem, it gets all of us voters wondering who's next. My neighbor? My loved one? My family, myself?

The whole "would you like me to summarize everything for you" reminds me of an old Adam Sandler movie (I know, I know...) called Click, where he comes upon a magic remote that can fast-forward through the boring moments in your life - a meeting at work, a dinner at the in-laws'.

This is spectacular, folks. We live in a moment in American history when the president and his administration are so racist and dumb that a toy company has to put out a statement saying: "OUR GIANT ROBOT THAT TURNS INTO A TRUCK DENOUNCES RACISM AND HAS NO CONNECTION TO THE CURRENT PRESIDENT."
