The fireplace in Provence is still used - to cook on, to sit around, to warm the toes, and to please the eye - and fires are laid in the early morning and fed throughout the day with scrub oak from the Luberon or beech from the foothills of Mont Ventoux. Peter Mayle, A Year in Provence #BookWormSat

In Japanese folklore kitsunebi is a yokai phenomenon occurring at night when magical foxes breathe out coloured balls of fire which float in the air and are used as lanterns to light their way. Seeing this fox fire is often a sign that a fox wedding or demon parade are occurring. 🎨Utagawa Hiroshige
Japanese ukiyo-e print depicting a group of foxes gathering under a tree in a starry night.

The “Tadpoles” that you can see are themselves ten light-years long and are considered by NASA to be sites of ongoing star formation.🔭
