To promote transparency and to ensure that decisions, policies, solutions, and practices are evidence-based, it is essential to conduct research on open science itself. Therefore, Open Science NL has launched a call for proposals for “Research on Open Science” and is now awarding funding to 19 projects with a total of 4.8 million euros.

Thanks for writing this. Open data helps me see if I should trust or care about a particular study. If full data are crap and the paper shows amazing things, if not enough data was collected. Without data papers are nothing but illustrated essays. I see great value in having access to it.

746 proposals for a total of 3M (about 13 will be funded). If orgs spent 4000 in personnel time preparing their proposals on average, then this mechanism actually reduced funding for open science. Open science is extremely underfunded.

COMPLETE CRAP - publishers have long argued they need authors to sign over copyright "so they can protect authors' rights". But *when* do they do that? Publishers are not enforcing attribution rights (under CC BY) for the papers they have sold to LLMs at huge profit. Maybe they should start there?
