my friend: look at the comments on this reel me: haha me: but, me: i wonder if this edit is a purposeful homage to @zefrank.bsky.social, who as one of the first youtubers doing straight-to-camera vlog, is an ancestor to influencers, & edited his videos so that he was never seen blinking journalist:

if you’re interested in derby you could always see if your local team trains officials! we train refs at our team and are always looking for new people, no age limit, and no hitting, just whistling 🥰

i also can’t speak in a generalized way about punk but where i live for instance a big DIY punk space has been hosting evenings with disabled people to better understand how they can improve access and inclusivity at their venue!

hello! did you see the statement on access at the roller derby world cup for instance? i think there is an attempt, although it’s still insufficient, to engage with the many barriers to full accessibility that need to be overcome. www.instagram.com/p/DLkZ6KZq4g...

The Salvadoran president: “the only way out is in a coffin.” That's not just a statement about the likelihood of authorities deciding to release a person. It's also, intentionally or not, a statement about the conditions at CECOT. My words on the larger stakes, in the LA Times last month.

The category of 'human' is shrinking as politicians, tech bros and right-wing pundits divide the world into two groups: You're a cis-het white man, or you're a monster.

tw: pet death; bluesky i’ve been away, my best friend, my sweet dog, became suddenly ill and it soon became clear we had to let him go. i am heartbroken but i know he lived a good and full life since being adopted by us at 7, and having just turned 14. so happy that he spent half his life with me 🩷

i think for me the tough bit is that i haven’t been able to become even okay at it; 3 years in i don’t feel i can be on the track without endangering others from my ineptitude, and maybe there’s nothing to be done about that. but i hope you figure out the same for yourself as well 🩷

sometimes driving players in a league get together to give rides to those who don’t have their own vehicles, especially in situations when the venue is out of the city. that mutual aid is often a big part of derby culture!

what am i embarrassed of — i’m not sure. i guess that i didn’t go to art school, that i don’t really understand the materials or the techniques. but probably it’s mostly the same issue of self-acceptance (namely: not having any) that pervades my whole life.

going to figure drawing sessions at lisbon drawing club has been fun, but i’m always too embarrassed to share my work with the other participants at the end as is customary. so as a baby step, here is some of it, on my kitchen table

several sheets of coloured paper, some blue some green some white, with drawings of a slim woman with short hair in different poses, done with coloured pencil

truly i have only engaged with skeeting the sport as a crossword answer, but maybe bluesky skeeting could be an olympic sport one day so i can continue to be bad at all sports and not ever qualify
