if you're writing horror, don't forget to explicitly spell out over and over again that the scary creature is a metaphor for the protagonist's mental state. readers will never work this out for themselves otherwise

![A digital illustration of my Ocs Lucy pryde (left] and Julian [right.] Lucy has brown skin and fire red hair and emerald green eyes. Her hair is partially braided with the lower half loose. A black ribbons is threaded through one of the braids. She's wearing a purple hoodie and a tattoo choker with a golden heart pendant. Blood is dripping from the side of her neck and down one of her breast. There is also a tear running down her face. Julian is leaned over her, blood covering his lips and cheeks, and dripping from his chin. His red bangs obscure his eyes. Lucy is holding the rest of his shoulder length hair gathered at the back of his head. Held with his hair is the end of his rosary, pulled tight against his throat. Around both characters are floating feathers.](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:5otc7m47dgbfg6clmt5mfhiu/bafkreiagxn4s5z6nozmogpze3jryclo6biesnqgmb2srhkqzjcpg6loa74)
