This is part of what I'm referring to with many people demanding stories that reassure them they're a good person. They want the moral instruction because otherwise, rather than processing the reading experience, there's a thrum of "am I bad? am I bad? what if someone finds out I'm bad?"

Julian sits on a bed with his back against the headboard. His med length hair is black, flips out at the tips before becoming shorter at the base of his neck. His bangs curl around his nose. His head is turned slightly right, eyes looking toward Isaac, who is mostly off-screen. Julians eyes are grayish light blue, and his face is flushed.

Julian wears an oversized red Tshirt hanging off one shoulder, exposing his bruised neck/ chest and a bleeding shoulder wound covered by a bandage. A long black rosary hangs around his neck, and he clutches its crucifix in his hand. His visible arm is covered in bruises and bandages.

His legs are heavily injured, covered in scrapes/cuts/bruises beneath bandages. One leg rests bent on the bed while Isaac wraps the other, holding Julians foot as he winds bandages around his ankle. Only Isaacs hands are visible. His knuckles are scratched/ smeared with blood, implying he caused Julians injuries.

Speech bubbles show:

Julian: "Are they gonna make us fight again tomorrow?"
Isaac: "Yeah."
"And what about after that?"
"Yeah."
"How long are they gonna keep making me fight you?"

The room is covered in wooden and silver crosses/prayer scrolls. The stone walls are cracked. Rusting bedposts hold two sets of restraints. The sheets are ratty and torn, and a Bible sits on a small nightstand.

The title, "Until You Hit Back," is Isaacs unvoiced reply to Julians final question. When Julian began training against Isaac, he would curl into a ball and take the hits without retaliating, despite the Priest urging him to fight back. It took a year of the Priest siccing Isaac on Julian like a dog before Julian finally raised a hand in self-defense.

Great article about why kink art is so important

It hadn't occurred to me that this might be more than a strange personal thought experiment until I saw a depiction of self-flagellation in the movie "A Nun's Story" and decided to try whipping myself with a belt. My reaction was sexual, rather than spiritual.
With no knowledge of how to frame any deviation from the sexual norm other than
to label it as a sin, I assumed this discovery meant I was evil and that l should probably kill myself. Fortunately for me, the Jehovah's Witnesses also had a lot to say about the sin of suicide, so l remained alive, guilt-wracked, attempting denial of who and what I was, and thoroughly unhappy.

I still didn't consider the possibility that there might be people in the real world who liked this kind of thing, and that they might not have anything wrong with them at all. Until the following year, when I stumbled into an art gallery and found myself confronted by wall upon wall covered in BDSM artwork.
It was electrifying. I saw sculptures depicting submissive women, with no suggestion that they might be mentally unwell. I saw photographs of dominant men and women, with no implication that they might be murderers or rapists. For the first time in my life, I saw my sexuality represented without being pathologized.
The relief of it still resounds in my mind, 21 years later.

I realized that by producing this work, I could let people like the person l'd once
been know that their kinks were OK, too.
They could see my photographs, and they'd know they weren't alone.
I wished I could send some of them back in time to my 18-year-old self, to show her that there was nothing wrong with her after all.
